BARC is hosting an Olympic-sized adoption event Saturday, August 4, to kick off its campaign to win the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. The August 4 event features discounted adoptions of $20 for dogs and $10 for cats, plus a pet parade at 1 pm.
BARC is one of 50 shelters in the country competing for the prize — and the only one in Houston. Each shelter must adopt 300 more animals than the same time period in 2011, August 1-October 31. For BARC, it will take 2,100 dog and cat adoptions to win the $100,000 grand prize grant. Mayor Annise Parker launched the campaign to help BARC win the grant. BARC will feature many discounted adoption events until the contest ends October 31. BARC’s event kicks off at noon through 6 pm. BARC is located at 3200 Carr Street, 77026.
