			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.asja.org/wc/2011"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-20488" style="border: 0pt none;" title="2011 mod badge" src="http://houstononthecheap.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/2011-mod-badge.jpg" alt="" width="128" height="77" /></a>The next few days I&#8217;ll be in New York City for my annual journalist conference put on by <a href="http://www.asja.org/wc/2011/" target="_blank"><strong>American Society of Journalists &amp; Authors</strong></a>. But this year is a little different.  I&#8217;ll be leading a panel on &#8220;<em>Making Money with Your Blog</em>,&#8221; with several expert bloggers: Deborah Ng of Blogworld, Julia Scott of<a href="http://www.BargainBabe.com" target="_blank"><strong> BargainBabe.com</strong></a>, and Lindsay Maines of<a href="http://www.rockandrollmama.com" target="_blank"><strong> Rock and Roll Mama</strong></a>.</p>
<p>Just wanted to mention this in case my blog posts or Facebook interactions are a little less than normal.  Daily deals will be difficult to pull together on my early morning travel days, but you can always click through the deals from the day before to find that latest deal!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>THIS SATURDAY  IS THE BIG DAY if you&#8217;re interested in the latest in information technology and development.  And even better &#8212; it&#8217;s all free! The third-annual <a href="http://www.houstontechfest.com/" target="_blank"><strong>Houston TechFest</strong></a> is Saturday, September 26, at University of Houston&#8217;s main campus from 8 a.m. &#8211; 6 p.m.  You&#8217;ll get the chance to choose from more than 70 technical sessions covering all kinds of topics: Java, .Net, iPhone development, SharePoint, Windows 7.0, and more.  Microsoft&#8217;s Sam Gazitt, product manager for Visual Studio 2010, will keynote the conference.  Free online registration takes place through Wednesday, September 23.  Then attendees must register onsite the day of the event.
