10th annual Free Shipping Day returns December 15 to help procrastinators save money. To date, 950+ retailers have signed on to offer free shipping for purchases made online Friday, December 15 — with delivery by December 24. The list includes major department stores, electronics stores, clothing, toy stores, and more.
Some merchants will offer extra discounts in addition to free shipping. Most participating merchants are offering no minimum purchase for free shipping. The website says “You asked, we delivered. Free shipping. No minimum.” There is a separate category for those offering a threshold minimum for free shipping.
In 2011 Free Shipping Day generated the most online sales of any Friday in U.S. history, according to comScore. It actually garnered a 1,000% increase from first-year retailers with more than 2,600 participating. In 2012, Free Shipping Day exceeded more than $1 billion in sales.
Everyone benefits from Free Shipping Day, according to founder Luke Knowles, since it’s a money-saving measure for consumers, and it extends the online holiday shopping season for retailers. Search for your favorite retailer at the FreeShippingDay.com site.
