As a blog ambassador with Dick’s Sporting Goods, I am excited to share what this new retailer has to offer Houstonians. Six stores opened in the Houston market last month, and I enjoyed touring the store and meeting Roger Clemens in a special meet-n-greet!
The first thing I noticed walking into the store is the big and bright shopping experience. The two-story store with natural light coming in the upper level windows is beautiful.
Downstairs offers athletic apparel for the entire family, casual apparel, and footwear. Customers head upstairs for team sports, hunting, fishing, camping, bikes, golf and lodge apparel.
And as a mom to two girls, the first section I stopped at was the wall of Nike shorts. The large display and assortment of colors offer plenty of options when your girls live in these shorts!
Looking for a Yeti? Dick’s has quite the selection when it comes to coolers, tumblers and all the other Yeti essentials! I have never seen so many.
Michael Jordan fans will love the special section devoted to Michael Jordan apparel and shoes.
The sports retailer also backs its hometown sports with an amazing section devoted to Houston Rockets as well as Houston Texans and Astros.
Of course I am partial to the University of Texas section and found a new must-have Longhorn shirt. But don’t worry — other schools are featured as well including University of Houston, Texas A&M, Baylor, and LSU.
I also enjoyed my little bonus meet-n-greet with Roger Clemens. I mentioned that I went to UT and he showed me his huge UT championship ring! Wish I got a picture of that.
Sports enthusiasts will appreciate all the services that Dick’s Sporting Goods offers its customers relating to lacrosse, skating, bowling, baseball, fishing, archery and more. Golfers can get customized golf club service as well as adjustments and repairs. Lacrosse players can personalize their pocket with a choice of mesh, laces and sidewalls in a variety of colors. The Glove pros offer glove steaming and shaping, and bowlers can get a custom-fit bowling ball. These are just a few of the services available to players.

Dick’s also is a great value for the community with its options for team sports. The retailer offers customized uniforms and fan wear as well as league management software that simplifies team registration, scheduling and communication. This will be a nice asset for all of Houston’s little league teams!

I’m glad you wrote Houston area because the fact is that did not open any stores inside Houston. They will be opening a small one where Sports Authority used to be near the Galleria. For those of us that live in the city there’s not a single store that takes less than 30 minutes to drive to.
