If you have wanna-be filmmakers in your home, they’ll love the free Apple Camp this summer. Apple Stores are offering a free, 4½-hour camp held over three days for kids ages 8 to 12. Kids will learn to shoot their own footage, create an original song in GarageBand on an iPad, and then combine it all in iMovie on a Mac. The final morning features a film festival for kids to share and revel in their projects.

These camps fill up quickly.  Sign up online for a three-day Apple Camp session:

Apple will provide all the necessary tools to create these films, but students are encouraged to bring their own digital or video camera and Mac, if they are available. This helps them learn on their own equipment. Sorry, parents… this isn’t a drop-and-run activity. Parents are required to stay with their kids under 13 years old.
