Meet your favorite teen author — Teens who love to read will enjoy the Montgomery County Teen Book Festival, Saturday, January 21, 11 am – 5 pm. Some of the authors include Kristin Cast (“House of Night“), Melody Carlson (“Damaged,” “Double Take“), Cinda Williams Chima (“The Warrior Heir“), Gayle Forman (“Sisters in Sanity“), and Joseph Hayes (“When No One is Watching“). Teens can attend general sessions, break-out sessions, an author panel, and get autographs. The Teen Book Festival is located in The Woodlands at The Woodlands College Park High School.
Browse Discovery Green Flea — Houston’s newest outdoor flea market, Discovery Green Flea, returns January 20 from 11 am – 5 pm. Browse artful kitsch, vintage items, mid-century modern furniture, recycled and repurposed items and collectibles. Live music to boot! Located at 1500 McKinney.
Learn grilling techniques — Williams-Sonoma’s free technique classes continue Sunday, January 22. It’s Healthy in a Hurry, Part 3 session focuses on Grill and Bake: Learn quick grilling recipes and comforting baked dishes in your repertoire. Learn healthy cooking habits — Whole Foods Market is kicking off a year of wellness this weekend with its Healthy Cooking Bowl 2012. You’ll find lots of fun activities, tastings, demonstrations, farmers market, and simple healthy meal solutions Friday through Sunday, noon to 5 pm at Houston and Sugar Land locations. Don’t miss the Health Starts Here Cook-off featuring Whole Foods’ chefs January 21 from 12 pm -2 pm.
