The chic and modern Hotel Sorella CITYCENTRE resides in a perfect location in the heart of CITYCENTRE’s upscale shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and park-like green space. Since its debut in 2009, the 13-story boutique hotel has earned spots on Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold List, Fortune’s Best New Business Hotels, and Wallpaper’s Best Business Hotels in the World.
As part of its summer special, Hotel Sorella is offering $119 night stays (double occupancy) as a “pre-paid” rate all through September (offer extended due to popularity!). This includes free WiFi, free parking in the nearby garage, and a breakfast buffet, to boot! Reserve online or call for the pre-paid rate. Tie your getaway into Houston Restaurant Weeks throughout August and enjoy a three-course, $35 meal at Bistro Alex (sister restaurant of Alex Brennan-Martin’s Brennan’s of Houston) — with $5 going to Houston Food Bank.
I enjoyed a family “staycation” getaway at Hotel Sorella CITYCENTRE. Here are a few highlights…
My husband, two daughters, and I checked in Saturday afternoon and were spoiled with a Junior Suite for mom and dad and an adjoining guestroom for the girls. The view down to the open green space of CITYCENTRE was amazing. I loved being within walking distance to Studio Movie Grill, shopping, and my favorite new store, Anthropologie…
The girls were in heaven with their own room and even added a few touches of home with their stuffed animals!
My husband stayed back at the hotel to watch the Olympics while the girls and I went shopping. We felt like tourists just walking outside and heading to Urban Outfitters, Free People, and Anthropologie. Oh my, love that store! Later we squeezed in a movie at Studio Movie Grill and munched on our wine & cheese and milk & cookie platters delivered to each room.
Getting dressed up for dinner! Love the geometric wallpaper that lines the halls…
We made dinner reservations at Bistro Alex in the hotel lobby to enjoy the special Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. The decor was beautiful with wood-grained ceiling and views of CITYCENTRE.
The menu featured four entree choices: Shrimp and Grits, Beef Filet, Roasted Chicken and Day Boat Fish. I had no difficulty selecting my three courses: Strawberry Salad, Shrimp and Grits, and Dark Chocolate Cake. Yum! Amazing props to Executive Chef Roland Soza, who first worked as a line cook at Brennan’s of Houston in 1999 while earning his degree in Culinary Arts.
Later we walked around the green to watch the special Cirque du Soleil street team for KOOZA. Tons of families were enjoying the entertainment, glowing hula hoops, face painting and more. CITYCENTRE is definitely a weekend destination for families, dates, and couples just walking around.
The next morning we headed to the modern lobby for the complimentary breakfast available to all hotel guests. I thoroughly enjoyed a chocolate croissant, fresh fruit, and a free latte made by the hotel staff. It was the perfect amount after overindulging the night before with my three course dinner at Bistro Alex!
It was tough going back to reality after our amazing hotel stay right within Houston. It’s certainly a destination I would love to repeat again to feel like we’re getting away — but without all the flights or driving across country.
Disclosure: I received a dinner and complimentary hotel stay at Hotel Sorella as background for this piece. All opinions are strictly my own.

Just a heads up: I just booked a room with a double occupancy and including taxes the total came out to $150/night.
NJ, Cathy and all:
The offer to request at reservations is the “pre-paid” weekend rate. Online or by phone… Some good news is that due to its popularity, it is being extended through September. The base rate should maintain somewhere between $109 and $119 for single occupancy plus the $20 for the second guest.
I will update the blog post to reflect the correct term.

I did not find a $119/night rate on the hotel’s web site. I chose both weekday and weekend nights to no avail.
However, I did find a weekend rate of $109/night FOR ONE PERSON ONLY during the remaining weekends in August, 2012.
U.S. Federal and State government rates of $118/night FOR TWO PEOPLE are available on weekends. A government ID is required to book a room at this rate.
The $118/night rate will be effective until the annual contract between the hotel and the government is renewed.
Cathy:
Thanks for your message. I am sending a message to my contact about the $119 rate. Perhaps it’s something that folks need to call in and ask for — and if so, I need to add that to my blog post.
I will let you know what I find out.
Thanks.
Vicki
