October 2: Free Houston Zoo After 2pm + Free LEGO Black Cat Model Build, 5pm
posted by Vicki Powers on October 01, 2012

October 2 is a great day for free kid fun in Houston!

The next free afternoon at the Houston Zoo is tomorrow, October 2 — and the weather should be perfect! It’s all part of the Houston Zoo’s revised Free Day Schedule, which is the first Tuesday each month after 2 pm until closing. This is a great deal if you’re available — considering Zoo admission increased to $13 for adults and $9 for kids ages 2-12. The Zoo stays open until 7 pm during Daylight Standard Time. The Houston Zoo is located in Hermann Park at 6200 Hermann Park Drive.  photo: vicki powers

Kids can create a free LEGO black cat Tuesday, October 2, at LEGO stores, at the next mini model build beginning at 5 pm. This event is for children ages 6-14 only, while supplies last. There are usually about 250 available at each store. Lines do start early outside the store, so be prepared. In Houston area, LEGO Stores are located at Galleria Mall (5015 Westheimer), Baybrook Mall (500 Baybrook Mall), and The Woodlands Mall (1201 Lake Woodlands Drive). This event is held the first Tuesday of each month.
