Q&A with October Baby Director Andrew Erwin; DVD/Blu-ray Available September 11
posted by Vicki Powers on September 11, 2012

Many of my readers and I had the opportunity to attend a special screening of October Baby Sunday at Studio Movie Grill CityCentre. The movie tour is tied to the DVD release today, 9/11. It’s an amazing and compelling story about forgiveness, friendship, and letting go.

After the screening, I got to sit in a director’s chair up front with co-director Andrew Erwin (fun!) as moderator for the Q&A. It was amazing to hear his insight into the making of the movie and its tremendous response from fans — even trending #4 on Google opening weekend as Hunger Games trended #6 at the same time for its opening weekend.

“This film achieved great word-of-mouth that it wasn’t what people expected,” Andrew Erwin shared with the audience. “It opened in the top 10 and held its own, proving that there is an audience.”

What Erwin didn’t expect is that teenage girls love Jason Burkey and the sweet, innocent love story. “It’s a love story that is naïve with a sweet innocence about it, and we didn’t have to stoop to the lowest common denominator. Young girls eat up that message that they are valuable.”

October Baby (PG-13) is available beginning today on DVD/Blu-ray at Walmart and Christian book shops.
