Veterans Day Freebies in Houston 2015 {Updated}

Veterans Day freebies in HoustonHouston-area veterans and active military personnel can enjoy free meals and services on Veterans Day, as a special thank you for their service. Here are a few Houston-area restaurants and organizations offering veterans and/or active military free food, haircuts, movie, and more.


Applebee’s: Free meal November 11 for veterans and active military personnel. Choose from one of seven entrèes. Proof of military service required.

Beck’s Prime: Beck’s Prime is giving a free hamburger or sandwich to veterans or active military tomorrow with military ID.

California Pizza Kitchen: Active or retired military can get a free entree from a special Veteran’s Day menu at California Pizza Kitchen November 11. The menu includes pizza, full-size salads, and pasta. Dine-in only. Must show military ID, proof of service, or be in uniform.

Chili’s: Active duty military and veterans can get a free meal at Chili’s November 11. They have a choice of one of seven entrees from a special menu. The organization’s chief marketing officer estimates they will serve more than 300,000 free meals on Veteran’s Day this year.

Denny’s: Active, inactive, and retired military personnel can enjoy a free Build Your Own Grand Slam® November 11 from 5 am – noon at Denny’s. Valid military ID is required.

Golden Corral: Golden Corral will provide a free dinner buffet and beverage November 11, from 5 pm – 9 pm, for Military Appreciation Night. This is for military heroes, past and present. Golden Corral has served more than 4.4 million free meals to military since it started Military Appreciation Monday 14 years ago.

Hooter’s: Veterans and active military personnel get a free entree of their choice from the special menu November 11. Drink purchase required. Must present military ID or proof of military service.

IHOP: Veterans and active duty military can get free stack of Red, White, and Blue pancakes November 11, from 7 am – 7 pm.

Little Caesar’s: The pizza chain is giving a free $5 Lunch Combo (4-slice pizza + 20 oz Pepsi product) November 11 to veterans  and active military.

LongHorn Steakhouse: Veterans and active military members will receive a complimentary Texas Tonion appetizer and non-alcoholic beverage November 11 with proof of service.

{EXPIRED} McCormick & Schmick’s: Veterans can enjoy a free meal at McCormick & Schmick’s Sunday, November 8. Veterans will choose from a special menu with 10 entrée options. Space is limited so reservations are required.

Menchie’s: Veterans and military personnel can receive a free 6 oz. cup of frozen yogurt at Menchie’s November 11 with military ID or dressed in uniform.

Ooh La La Dessert Boutique: Veterans can enjoy a free dessert or drink November 11 with a dessert purchase. Three Houston locations.

Olive Garden: Olive Garden will provide a free entrée from a special menu to active duty military and military veterans, which features six of the restaurant’s most popular items. Guests also get unlimited homemade soup or salad and breadsticks. Folks dining at the table with the veteran get 10% off their meal.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt: Active and retired military personnel get a free cup of frozen yogurt at Orange Leaf November 11, up to 11 oz.

Outback Steakhouse: Free Bloomin’ Onion appetizer and beverage at Outback Steakhouse for military, November 11. The restaurant also is giving a military discount worth 15% off the total bill November 12 – December 31, 2015 to Military Mates, including active or retired military and their family.

Pappasito’s: Active military and veterans can get a free appetizer November 11 with purchase of an entree.

Red Robin: Veterans and active military get a free Red’s Tavern Double burger and Bottomless Steak Fries at participating locations.

Red Lobster: Active military and veterans can get a free appetizer or dessert from Red Lobster November 9-12 to thank them for their service.

Spaghetti Warehouse: The Italian eatery is encouraging folks to take a veteran to lunch or dinner for free with its Buy-One-Get-One-Free coupon. Order one of its 11 Spaghetti entrees or Incredible 15-Layer Lasagna and receive a second one for free. Download the coupon from the Spaghetti Warehouse website, or show mobile version on phone. Valid November 9-11.

Starbucks: Veterans, active duty service members and spouses can enjoy a free tall brewed coffee on November 11.

Steak N’ Shake: Former servicemen and women are invited to a free breakfast skillet and coffee November 11 from 6 am – 11 am.

Texas Roadhouse: This Texas favorite is opening for lunch Wednesday, November 11, just to provide free meals to veterans, retired, and active military. These folks will get a free meal from a choice of 10, including a beverage (soda, tea or coffee). ID is required. Dine-in only.

Zoës Kitchen: Active duty military and retired veterans get a free entree November 11 at Zoës Kitchen.

Zydeco Kitchen: Veterans and active military get a free lunch off the Daily Special board November 11. This is located at 1856 Barker Cypress Rd. off I-10.



Alamo Drafthouse: Veterans and active military can get a free movie ticket for a November 11 showing  at Alamo Drafthouse Vintage Park or Mason Park. The ticket must be purchased at the box office with military ID, not online. Check online for movies and times.

Bowlmor: Veterans can bowl two free games November 11 all day — shoes included! Valid military ID required. Located at 925 Bunker Hill.

City of Houston: The City of Houston is hosting its annual Veteran’s Day Salute November 11. The 9 am event at Houston City Hall (901 Bagby) features a Veteran’s Job Fair, Health Fair, ceremony and parade. Free parking is available in the Theatre District parking, Tranquility Garage, entrances 2 and 5 only from 9 am – 12:30 pm.

Great Clips: Active and retired military can get a free haircut November 11, or pick up a card to use anytime before 12/31/15. Folks who get a haircut can pick up a free haircut card to share with a veteran or active military personnel.

Hermann Park Railroad: Veterans and active duty military personnel can take a free ride on the Hermann Park Railroad November 11, as a “thank you” for serving our country. Train rides are open 10 am – 5 pm, weather permitting. Check in at the Kinder Train Station podium with military ID.

Houston Humane Society: Pets for Vets allows active and retired military to adopt a pet for free at Houston Humane Society November 9-15. Located at 14700 Almeda.

Houston Symphony: Active and reserve military, veterans and ROTC cadets can get 2 free tickets to the Houston Symphony’s concert this weekend, Dvoák’s Serenade for Strings, at Jones Hall. To get your 2 free tickets, just go to and click on the November 12November 14 or November 15 performance of Dvoák’s Serenade for Strings and use promo code 15304. Tickets may also be reserved by phone or in person at Jones Hall (615 Louisiana Street) Monday through Saturday10 am – 6 pm.

All tickets reserved through the Web site will be available for pick up starting an hour-and-a-half before the concert begins at Will Call in front of Jones Hall. Patrons will need to show their Military ID or other form of photo documentation at Will Call or Patron Services Center to get their 2 free tickets.

{EXPIRED} Kemah Boardwalk: The City of Kemah and Kemah Boardwalk are hosting Salute to Military Service, November 6-8. Active military members, veterans and their families will receive 50 percent off all-day, all-ride passes as well as 25% off retail all weekend. The 3-day event features military exhibits, interactive tours, K-9 and ROTC demonstrations, live music, Coast Guard Air Sea Rescue, and a parade.

Orangetheory Fitness: This local fitness franchise will offer free Orangetheory classes to veterans all day November 11. Veterans must show their military ID and call any of the Orangetheory Fitness locations in the greater Houston area: San Felipe, Sugar Land, Town and Country, Vintage Park and West University.

SportsClips: Veterans and active duty military can get a free haircut November 11 at participating SportsClips locations as part of Help a Hero 2015.

    Thanks for the list, just a point we as Veterans don’t get to keep our military ID, these are collected to get our DD 214’s (which do not have a photo). Quite a few of the listings say Military ID for Vets. Have a great day.

      Gene, A picture ID is not required. Veteran’s can use a copy of their DD 214 or their honorable discharge certificate.
