Enjoy a free afternoon at the Houston Zoo the first Tuesday each month beginning at noon, except June, July, and August. No entry after 6 pm but the Zoo closes at 7 pm.

Children’s Festival
April 11 @ Central Green Park (noon – 3 pm) Cancelled due to weather

It’s a big day in Katy at the 2nd annual free Children’s Festival. The day features a magic show, live music, arts and crafts, fun jumps and more.

Chipotle Music & Movie series
April 17 @ Discovery Green (7 pm – 10 pm)

This new series presents live music at 7 pm and free movie at 8 pm. Grand Old Grizzly performs before the feature, Fed Up, a documentary by Katie Couric that reveals more about obesity in the U.S. and the role sugar plays in the process.

Earth Day
April 23 @ Houston Arboretum & Nature Center (10 am – 2 pm)

Celebrate the Earth along with the Houston Arboretum! The free celebration will be packed with fun for the whole family, including earth-conscious activities, demonstrations, crafts, face painting, guided nature hikes, and live Texas reptiles.

April 18 @ The Menil Collection (11 am – 6 pm)

Folks interested in the arts will love this free event comprising literature, music, and performance arts + Houston indie book fair. Plenty on the schedule including family concert, family-friendly films, HCP scavenger hunt, and kids’ hands-on crafts with the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.

Willow Waterhole Music Fest
April 25 @ Willow Waterhole Park (11 am – 10 pm)

Enjoy more than 10 hours of free outdoor live music, food, drinks, + Rock and Shop Craft Fair. Some of the bands on the list feature Zydeco Dots, Nobody’s Fool, Conrad Johnson Big Blue Sound, Bayou City Brass Band, and Kyle Turner. Students from nine different local high schools will perform as well. Willow Waterhole Conservation Reserve is a 290-acre area in Southwest Houston at 5304 Gasmer.

Free Outdoor Movie: Casablanca
April 23 @ Market Square Park (8 pm)

Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow presents the 1940s classic Casablanca downtown at Market Square Park. The free outdoor movie begins at 8 pm.

Bank of America Screen on the Green
April 25 @ Discovery Green (8:30 pm)

The free outdoor movie features The LEGO Movie. Arrive an hour early for activities and games! Grab a blanket or lawn chair for hillside seating downtown.

TUTS’ Free Movie Screening
April 27 @ Sundance Cinema (7 pm)

Watch a free movie screening of The Music Man to prep for TUTS’  theater production at Hobby Center in May. Seating is first come, first serve. Parking is free with validation in the Theater District Parking Garage.
