Nothing says freedom like fireworks and festivals! If you are wondering where to watch 4th of July fireworks in Houston, wonder no more! Greater Houston and the surrounding areas have tons of July 4th events to choose from. 

We’ve looked for the most up to date information so that you can have a blast on Independence Day but always check the details before you head out today to celebrate.

4th of July 2021 Events in Houston

Shell Freedom Over Texas in Downtown Houston

What: Freedom Over Texas is the city’s signature show with live music and stunning fireworks over Buffalo Bayou. The event typically draws thousands of visitors, however, it will be on hold again for one more season. The celebration will be broadcast to local television on July 4 (ABC13 from 7-10 pm) and stream online. Fireworks will reach 800 feet, almost doubling the height of the traditional show, for more to enjoy from further away. 

The impressive entertainment for the evening is headlined by Lee Brice, Academy of Country Music Awards 2021 Music Event of the Year recipient. Jimmie Allen, Academy of Country Music Awards’ 2021 New Male Artist of the Year, will open the show. American Idol participant Alanis Sophia will join the show along with local favorite Brian Jack & the Zydeco Gamblers. The superb Houston Symphony will perform a patriotic tribute along with the Houston Methodist Singers.

Tomball July 4th Celebration

What:  Tomball’s July 4th Celebration & Street Festival is filled with entertainment and All-American, award-winning event. Fireworks and food, music and more . . . this red, white and blue celebration is just what you’d expect from small town Texas!
When: Sunday, July 4th, 2021  |  6:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Independence Day Concert Series at City Centre

What: The Independence Day Concert Series at City Centre will feature an evening of live music followed by spectacular fireworks. Leave the coolers at home. Instead, get some takeaway from a local restaurant. Fireworks start at 9:30 pm!

Bellaire 4th of July Parade

What: The City of Bellaire’s Annual 4th of July Parade and festival will take place on Saturday, July 3. The parade will be followed by a festival where you can enjoy food, music from a live band, and more!
When: Saturday, July 3, 2021 |  9:30 am
Where: The festival will take place on the Great Lawn and in Loftin Park. The parade route can be found here.

Fourth of July in The Woodlands

What:  The Woodlands is hosting a series of events to celebrate Independence Day. The Fourth of July Parade kicks off the festival. In the evening, The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra will wow audiences with patriotic favorites. On July 4th, the city is hosting Red, Hot and Pool where each pool will have patriotic decorations, activities and refreshments (while supplies last). End the day with a bang at the 24th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Festival and Fireworks Extravaganza!

4th of July 2021 Events in Houston – Continued

Katy Freedom Celebration

What: The City of Katy in partnership with Typhoon Texas’s “Red White & Boom” event, will host the annual Freedom Celebration fireworks display. When parking for the firework display please do not move street closure barricades and do not park on roadway shoulders or street medians – this is for public safety and helps with traffic control after the show. 
When: Sunday, July 4, 2021 |  9:00 pm

Cynthia Woods July 3 Concert

Kick off your July 4th festivities in Houston with an enthralling, meaningful, and patriotic concert. The Woodlands Symphony will be performing on the main stage of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on Saturday, July 3 at 8 pm. The celebration titled “Stars At Night – A Salute To Service” will celebrate Independence Day and also pay homage to our local service heroes.

When: The event’s gates open at 6.30 PM on July 3rd 

Red White and Boom in Sugar Land

What: The skies of Sugar Land skies will light up with colorful pyrotechnics to celebrate America’s Independence Day. This free festival offers plenty of fun including an incredible fireworks display, music, food, vendors, and more. Enjoy the largest fireworks show in Fort Bend! Get ready for an evening full of patriotic family fun and activities for all ages, coupled with great food and live music! Entertainment and activities will include photo opportunities, vendor booths, and a main stage area featuring a variety of talent. The event will conclude with a dazzling fireworks display at approximately 9 p.m.

Galveston Island 4th of July Parade and Fireworks

What: Celebrate Independence Day at Galveston Island with a Parade, sponsored by the Marine Corps League followed by a dazzling fireworks display. The Parade will begin at 7:00 PM on Seawall Blvd at 59th Street and proceed east to 25th Street, with fireworks to follow at 37th and Seawall. 
When: Sunday, July 4, 2021 |  7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

League City July 3 Drive-In Fireworks Spectacular

What: This family-friendly event is free and open to the public and includes a fireworks display, live-music, inflatables, and food trucks. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket to enjoy an evening with family and friends as part of your Independence Day celebration. Fireworks will begin at sundown. Additional parking will be available at Hometown Heroes Park, along with shuttle service.
