There’s never a dull moment in Houston. Here are five options for free and cheap fun this week (January 6-10) before planning your free and cheap weekend!

Monday (1/6) –  It’s the last day to attend a free Family Film Festival at Maud Smith Marks Library in Katy over the school break. The calendar shares a clue to guess each day’s movie title. Today’s clue: a Disney retelling of a Dickens classic starting cats and dogs! Movie begins at 1:30 pm at 1815 Westgreen Blvd in Katy.

Tuesday (1/7) – Enjoy free admission to the Houston Zoo after 2 pm, the first Tuesday of each month. Regular admission is $14 for adults and $10 for kids, so this is a great way to save on Houston Zoo visits.

Tuesday (1/7) — Kids age 6-14 can build a free LEGO toy the first Tuesday of each month. This month’s theme features a snowplow — something we’ll never know in Houston! The mini model build is 5 pm at LEGO stores at Baybrook and Houston Galleria.

Wednesday (1/8) — Take a break over lunch for a free Winter Bird Walk. The Nature Discovery Center offers this free event the first Wednesday each month in the winter.

Friday (1/10) — Enjoy a free musical concert downtown on your lunch hour Friday at 12:15 pm. Musiqa will be sharing a series of world premiere brass compositions during its monthly lunchtime concerts. It’s part of the public art clock tower project, What Time is It? Located at 301 Travis at Market Square Park.
