Monday (4/6) — Kick off the Astros 2015 season at the free Opening Day Street Fest! Enjoy live music, Astros pep rallies with players, family-friendly activities, food trucks and more 1 pm – 4:30 pm. Located at 501 Crawford.

Tuesday (4/7) — Take advantage of the monthly free Houston Zoo afternoon Tuesday beginning at noon. Last admission is 6 pm with the Zoo closing at 7 pm. This freebie is available every month except June, July and August. Kids also can build a free LEGO UFO Tuesday, 5 pm, at LEGO stores.

Wednesday (4/8) — The Houston Public Library is hosting a special exhibit tour, Maurice Sendak: 50 Years, 50 Works; 50 Reasons through May 2. Don’t miss One Wild Night: Exhibit Reception Wednesday, 6 pm – 8 pm, with live music by Buxton, activities by Pop Shop Houston, food trucks and more. Located at Julia Ideson Building, 550 McKinney. Sendak is famous for children’s literature, Where the Wild Things Are, as well as Broadway, opera and young adult textbooks.

Wednesday (4/8) — {Not free but cheap!} It’s another $3 Girls Night Out at Studio Movie Grill Wednesday, 7:30 pm. This month’s flick is the Audrey Hepburn classic, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Located at both CityCentre and Copperfield locations.

Thursday (4/9) — Don’t miss this rare, one-night only event! Help celebrate the 50th birthday of the Astrodome Thursday, 6 pm – 8 pm, with live music, cake, souvenirs, and dome tours. This will be located at Carruth Plaza (NW corner of the Astrodome) at 8400 Kirby.

Thursday (4/9) — Get a sneak peek of the art cars in this year’s Art Car Parade Saturday — and meet the artists. Then stick around for the free concert by Aaron Neville. Located at Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney, from 6:30 pm – 10 pm.

Thursday (4/9) — HITS Theater presents its second week of free performances of Legally Blonde the Musical April 9-11 at Miller Outdoor Theater. The show begins at 8 pm.
