Texans have another reason to be proud to live in the Lone Star State. Apple Texas, a franchise partner of Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar with sixty-five Applebee’s locations in Texas, is bringing back the Dollarita, the popular $1 margarita which has been helping Texans beat the summer heat since 2016.

The Dollarita is the creation of Chris Dharod, president of SSCP management which oversees Apple Texas. Dharod thought a one-dollar margarita would be the perfect drink to help Texans escape the punishing Texas summers, and launched the drink two years ago. The drink became so popular that the Dollarita has now becoming a recurring seasonal item, responsible for selling the most margaritas in a one-month period in Applebee’s history.

After the success of the Dollarita in Texas, Applebee’s locations throughout the country began selling the 10 oz. drink last October. The drink was one of the reasons why Apple Texas was recognized by the world’s largest casual dining brand as the Marketing Innovator of the Year in 2017.  “Margaritas are extremely popular with our guests, and our DOLLARITA is the most refreshing drink money can buy,” says Patrick Kirk, vice president of beverage innovation at Applebee’s. “We first introduced the DOLLARITA to America last October, and we’re excited to bring it back in April as a reason to celebrate the return of spring.”

“Dollarita was such a hit not only in Texas but nationwide that we decided to once again treat our guests to a margarita for a buck,” says Dollarita creator Chris Dharod. “So, whether you’re expecting a refund this month or even if you owe Uncle Sam, you can still get your drink on at Applebee’s while being kind to your wallet.”

All Applebee’s locations in Houston, Austin, Dallas, Waco and East Texas will offer margaritas for a dollar during April.
