Best Hotel Rewards Program for 2021
Choosing the best hotel rewards program of 2021 will not only save you money when you travel, but also provide you with those perks and facilities that will take the quality of your vacation to a whole new level of awesome.
Now that the number of coronavirus cases are dropping, travelling and vacationing has gained momentum again and this summer, taking a small road trip or a holiday seems just the ideal way to unwind after the year that was.
Planning for a smooth, hassle free vacation that goes easy on the pocket is simple if you choose the right hotel rewards program!
A hotel rewards program earns you points or benefits every time you stay at that hotel, and while some programs are all about getting you free nights or complementary stays, others are more inclined towards offering certain members-only privileges like free Wi-Fi or minibar credits. So, choosing the best hotel rewards program of 2021 will involve considering all these factors before making a decision about your place of stay when you travel.
A recent study by WalletHub has curated a list of royalty rewards offered by major hotel chains by comparing 10 most popular hotel rewards programs using 21 key metrics to arrive at a list of best choices in three different hotel budgets: Light, Moderate and Heavy hotel spending.
Here are the top five reward programs at a glance:
Topping this list for the sixth time in a row are the Wyndham Rewards offered by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, particularly because of their flexibility that allows loyalty points for travelers of all spending levels. What makes Wyndham stand out is the possibility to roll over qualifying nights into next year. Other benefits include points that can be used for vacation rentals, tours, gift cards, activities and more.

Radisson Rewards and World of Hyatt closely follow suit ranking in the top five of the study’s two imperative categories: rewards value and redemption options. This means that along with complimentary stays, accumulated points can also give you dining and spa services and you earn extra points on everyday purchases too if you have a Radisson Rewards or a World of Hyatt credit card respectively.
Following these, the two hotel rewards programs to make it into the top five are Hilton Honors and Marriott Bonvoy, most beneficial for business and luxury travelers who fly to various cities across the US throughout the year with regular frequency.
A couple of other programs that stand out in WalletHub’s list are the Best Western and Sonesta Travel Pass for being the only major chains whose reward points do not expire due to account inactivity. So if you vacation on a regular but infrequent basis, these are the reward points suited to your needs.
Every hotel rewards program has its own set of pros and cons, so when you choose, it’s important to know what you are looking for. While certain programs offer great extra facilities like spas and rentals, others are more suited for international travel or redemption benefits. So, when you plan your summer trips this year, make sure you check out which hotel rewards program fits you and your travel needs to get the most out of the amenities up for grabs.
