School is winding down and ending for Houston-area kids today through Friday. WHAT? Don’t know how to spend your weekdays with kids without spending big bucks? Here are some free and cheap movie festivals offered this summer in Houston.

Summer Movie Express at Edwards Houston Marq*e 23: Catch these family-friendly flicks for $1 every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. this summer. The G and PG-rated movies kick off June 7. Regal’s Edwards Marq*e is located at 7600 Katy Freeway.

Summer Movie Clubhouse at Cinemark:  Movies are just $1 weekday mornings at many Houston-area Cinemark locations. Or get 10 movies for only $5 paid in advance. Tinseltown 290 features Wednesday morning shows beginning June 8 with Alpha & Omega. Cypress 12 features Tuesday and Wednesday movies at 9:30 a.m. beginning June 7-8 with Veggie Tales: Pirates That Don’t Do Anything. Katy Cinemark 19 features Tuesday and Wednesday movies at 10 a.m. beginning June 7-8 with The Wizard of Oz. The Woodlands Cinemark 17 features Wednesday and Thursday movies at 10 a.m. beginning June 8-9 with Marmaduke. Cinemark at Pearland features Tuesday and Wednesday movies at 10 a.m. beginning June 7-8 with Marmaduke. Cinemark Rosenberg 12 features Tuesday and Wednesday movies at 10 a.m. beginning June 7-8 with Curious George. Webster Cinemark 18 features Tuesday movies at 10 a.m. beginning June 7 with Wizard of Oz. Pasadena Hollywood 20 features Tuesday and Wednesday movies at 9:30 a.m. beginning June 7-8 with Veggie Tales: Pirates That Don’t Do Anything.

Children’s Summer Series at Studio Movie Grill:  Kids are only $1 at Studio Movie Grill this summer.  Catch the 11 a.m. show Monday through Thursday beginning June 6 through August 15 week.  Both Copperfield and CityCentre locations are participating.  Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs kicks off the first week.  Adults are $2 to the 11 a.m. show.

Free Summer Movies at Santikos Theatres: Catch a free movie for six weeks this summer at Silverado 19 IMAX in Tomball on Hwy. 249.  The Summer Movie Series kicks off June 20 with free movies Monday through Thursday at 11 a.m.  The first week kicks off with Yogi Bear. The following weeks feature Despicable Me, Alpha and Omega, Kung Fu Panda, and An American Tail.

AMC Theaters’ Summer MovieCamp:  According to the AMC website, the theater company will no longer offer Summer MovieCamp.  Attendance was too low last year, unfortunately. It will offer family movies throughout the summer before noon at value prices.
