The holiday season is upon us, and there’s no better place to get in the Christmas spirit than at Moody Gardens on Galveston Island!
This year, Moody Gardens is going all out with 8 amazing holiday attractions that offer fun for everyone, including Ice Land: Christmas Around the World, Festival of Lights, Ice Skating, Arctic Slide, Train Rides, Photos with Santa, 4D films, and more!
Festival of Lights Shines Brighter Than Ever
Santa and his elves have been busy preparing for what undoubtedly is the coolest holiday display in the Southwest: The Moody Gardens Festival of Lights — a tradition as timeless cookies and milk on Christmas Eve.
This year’s incredible lighting display, which runs Nov. 16 through Jan. 12, is bigger and brighter than ever before and — even better — there are plenty of days to score some great deals on tickets!
Tickets are regularly $18.95 each, but on “Value Days,” that price drops $5 to $13.95, and all the way down to $8.95 on “Super Value” days.
For 2019, Value Days are Sunday, Dec. 1, Tuesday, Dec. 3, Wednesday, Dec. 4, Thursday, Dec. 5, Sunday, Dec. 8, Tuesday, Dec. 10, Wednesday, Dec. 11, Thursday, Dec. 12, Sunday, Dec. 15, Tuesday, Dec. 17, Wednesday, Dec. 18, and Thursday, Dec. 19.
Super Value Days include Mondays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16; and then Jan. 5-12.
Moody Gardens is located at One Hope Boulevard in Galveston, which is about an hour southeast of Houston. So, put together that classic Christmas music playlist and have a fun road trip to the Festival of Lights!
So, what can you expect from this year’s Festival of Lights? Bigger, brighter and better. And it all starts with Star, the Dancing Tree of Light. This four-story digital Christmas tree will direct you along the mile-long trail that includes 2 million lights depicting classic Christmas scenes, like the Nutcracker, a toy factory and more.
Celebrate Christmas Around the World at Ice Land
Moody Gardens offers so much more than just their incredible Festival of Lights each holiday season.
This year’s show features a brand-new theme: ICE LAND: Christmas Around the World.
This bright, impressive show will take visitors around the globe to see important world landmarks, like the Statue of Liberty, the Alamo, Trinity Fountain, the Sydney Opera House, the Great Wall of China and many more — all carved out of 2 million pounds of ice inside a 28,000 square foot insulated tent that’s chilled and maintained at nine degrees (make sure to dress in layers with gloves and a hat, although Moody Gardens does provide a complimentary parka to help keep you warm!).
It’s a great way to see how other cultures around the world celebrate the holiday season.
ICE LAND also runs from Nov. 16 through Jan. 12. and allows visitors to take advantage of the same Value and Super Value day discounts mentioned above. And if you go, make sure to take a ride on the giant ice slide that takes guests from the top of the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe.
Other Holiday Activities
The holiday fun doesn’t stop there. Remember how we said Moody Gardens has 8 holiday attractions this year?
