When Do The Lights Go Up? River Oaks Christmas Lights Dates For 2022
Many homeowners get their decorations up right after Thanksgiving! The River Oaks lights are already in full swing with a bunch of houses brilliantly decorated with thousands and thousands of lights. Each night, more homeowners are adding to the collection, so you can start visiting now and keep coming back week after week to see what’s been added.
The Christmas lights in River Oaks will remain twinkling until at least Christmas Day. It’s up to the homeowners when they take them down, but many keep their houses lit until the weekend after New Year, keeping the holiday spirit in full bloom until 2023.

River Oaks Christmas Lights 2022 – Best Light Displays & Recommended Route
The whole neighborhood has countless houses that are decorated this year. You can start on any street and wind your way up and down the neighborhood taking them all in. Put zip codes 77019 or 77027 in your maps to get you in the right place.
The best route for River Oaks Christmas lights starts on River Oaks Boulevard. Starting from Westheimer, head north up the street. The awe-inspiring mansions on this street are filled with dazzling displays of Christmas cheer. Take in all the decorations to your right as you cruise towards the country club.
Take a left on Del Monte to the famous Santa Claus house along with many other fabulous Christmas light displays. Go right on Mockingbird, and then again Inwood Drive to see more of the most dramatic River Oaks Christmas light arrangements. Then head south back down River Oaks Boulevard to see the houses on the other side of the street.

Santa pictures are available at the ‘River Oaks Santa House’ located at 3404 Del Monte Dr, Houston, TX 77019. For 2022, you can have yours clicked from 7 pm to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays in December.

River Oaks Christmas Lights 2022 Parking
Most people choose to tour the River Oaks holiday lights from the car, so you won’t need to worry about parking. If you do decide you want to park and tour by foot, there is no specific parking lot, but you can try to find street parking throughout the neighborhood.
Make sure to check for any no parking signs so that you don’t get towed. Be respectful to the people who live in the neighborhood when choosing a place to park, as well as when driving around the neighborhood.

When Is The Best Time To See Christmas Lights in River Oaks?
If you want to avoid the crowds, head over to the spirited neighborhood as soon as it gets dark outside, around 5:30. You can tour the Christmas displays any day of the week from 5 to 10 pm. River Oaks Christmas Lights Tour
There are tons of options when it comes to touring around the beautiful homes of River Oaks in all their holiday glory. It is totally free to drive through the neighborhood by yourself to take in all the lights. Load the car up with the family and put on a cheerful Christmas playlist or sing the classic Christmas carols. Warm your hearts and your bellies by bringing along some rich hot chocolate loaded up with marshmallows.
If you’re a bit more active, you can also walk around to view the lights. While you can easily hit the main route, it might take quite a while to walk the entire subdivision, which covers two square miles. There is no designated parking area, so arrive early if you’re hoping to snag a street spot. Pick the pace up a bit and join the Bayou City Road Runners on their Christmas Lights run.
Another option is to join one of the light tours. Perhaps the most famous option is with Mister McKinney’s Historic Houston Bus. This open-air, convertible-style school bus offers trips through the neighborhood six times a night, from Monday to Sunday until January 2nd. This trip is just as educational as it is fun and your guide will tell you about who built the historic mansions that date back to 1924!
