If you love Tex Mex as much as we do, you’ve probably eaten at Chuy’s at some point. And if you’ve been to Chuy’s, you’ve likely had the life-changing experience of trying their highly-addictive Creamy Jalapeño Sauce. It’s delicious as a dip for chips or as a topper for enchiladas, burritos, salads, and more.

Thankfully, Chuy’s is still offering to-go and delivery (via DoorDash) at its restaurants all across the Houston area, and you should definitely support restaurants in the area whenever you can during these difficult times. But for most of us, ordering takeout for every meal isn’t in our budget, so there’s still the need to do some at-home cooking throughout the week.

The good news is you can recreate Chuy’s amazing Creamy Jalapeño Sauce at home in just minutes, and it’s actually pretty easy! We’ve tested several popular copycat recipes, and put together our favorite spin on the sauce below.

Ingredients You’ll Need

You can get all of the ingredients you’ll need delivered straight to your home with Instacart (review) or another grocery delivery service. You’ll also need a blender if you don’t have one already.

  • 1 pack Hidden Valley Ranch
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 2/3 cup mayo
  • 1/2 cup strained pickled jalapenos from jar
  • 1 tbs jalapeno juice
  • 1/2 cup tomatillo sauce
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro
  • 2 tsp fresh lime juice (optional)

Note: You can also add in 1/3 cup sour cream to this recipe if you’d like to make it a little bit creamier and more flavorful, but it’s not totally necessary.

Directions

All you need to do is mix the ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth! You may wish to play around with the amount of buttermilk a little bit to reach the consistency you’re looking for, but we’ve found the above proportions to be pretty darn close to the restaurant version.

If you’re patient enough to wait to devour this, refrigerate it until you’re ready to serve it.
