Cinderella Goes Disco

If you’re like me, then every time you watch a children’s fairy tale movie you think to yourself: “Yeah sure, these songs are pretty good I guess, but what this story really needs is some disco action.” Nothing goes with fairy tales quite like the worst music of the 1970s, which is why Houston’s own The Company OnStage Theatre is presenting Cinderella Goes Disco this month. This wildly entertaining adaptation of the classic Cinderella fairy tale is one performance you don’t want to miss – and neither is the 50% discount is currently offering HOTC readers.

The Company OnStage’s Cinderella Goes Disco is part of the theatre company’s Young Audience Series, meaning it’s fun for the whole family and involves a whole lot of audience participation. The story isn’t just a retelling of Cinderella, but instead combines elements from other fairy tales such as Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast and sets the whole thing to groovy ‘70s-style disco tunes.

In the story, the Prince has invited all the kingdom’s young ladies to party at a disco ball in his place. Poor, beautiful Cinderella can’t go because she doesn’t have anything to wear to the ball, which is where the Fairy Godmother comes in of course. What happens next is, well, the stuff of fairy tales.

Tickets to see Cinderella Goes Disco start at just $10 for general admission, but right now has half-off tickets for members. All it takes is an email address or Facebook account and you can sign up for a free membership to get access to all of the best cheap tickets in Houston.
