cirque joyeaux

If you’re looking for an exciting, luxurious way to celebrate the holiday season and ring in the new year, look no further than the exquisite Lone Star Circus — Cirque Joyeux — dinner and show.

This magical journey of a show runs Dec. 20-30 at the Moody Gardens Convention Center (7 Hope Boulevard, Galveston). Doors for all shows each day — including Christmas Day! — open at 6:30 p.m., with a pre-show that kicks off at 6:40 p.m. and the performance officially beginning at 7:30 p.m.  Dinner is served for the evening shows, but not the matinee, so if you’re looking to save some money, scoop up tickets for one of the afternoon performances.

Matinees are on Dec. 22, 26 and 29. Doors open at 3 p.m. and the performance starts at 4 p.m.

Tickets for the dinner show run $59 to $109 for adults and $39 to $109 for children ages 3-12. Infants and toddlers under 3 are free, with the exception of the specific premium seats. Additionally, each ticket comes with a $4 processing fee. As a bonus, though, your ticket also includes admission to the incredible Moody Gardens Festival of Lights.

So, what exactly is Cirque Joyeux? It’s an awe-inspiring circus event featuring some of the top performers from around the world, telling a story by award-winning Texas thespians Linda Leonard and Bill Jenkins. These performers literally come from all over the world, including Argentina, Hungary, Chicago, New York, and Columbia.

Their talents extend the full range of high-end circus performances, from rope spinning to aerial ballet, acrobats and, of course, high-speed juggling. And you and your children will definitely not want to miss the impeccable, rambunctious and joyous rescue dogs of the Pompeyo Family, as they debut a brand-new act.

With the kids on holiday break, you have not reason not to make the easy drive down to Galveston for what will certainly be a memorable Christmas show that will have you oohing and ahhing throughout the entire performance.
