The Welsh Corgi, more commonly referred to simply as the corgi, is a cattle-herding dog which originated in Wales and has since become one of the most popular dog breeds worldwide for their high intelligence, easy-going temperament, friendliness with children, and adorable, short-legged appearance.
To celebrate this beloved breed, the Sam Houston Race Park hosts the Corgi Races each year, events which have become one of the race park’s most popular events. Every year, dozens of adorable dogs are brought in to race for glory in between the race park’s live horse racing. This year, the Corgi Races are part of the 2019 American Quarter Horse meet, and the corgis will run during the exciting races of some the world’s fastest horses.
