Alright, be honest: who needs new cups? New coffee mugs without chips? Juice glasses that aren’t etched and faded? If you need new vessels for your favorite beverages, the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft has you covered. This month, the Asher Gallery will present the unique “Cups for Y’all” pop-up sale which will feature local artists and their one-of-a-kind drinkware. Everyone needs cups!
The Cups for Y’all pop-up sale will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Asher Gallery at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Admission is free to the public, and cups and mugs will be available for purchase. A special preview for HCCC members will be held on Friday, January 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
The Cups for Y’all pop-up will feature over 100 area artists who are known for their work in ceramics and glasses. Some of the featured artists include Nicole Aquillano, Chanda Glendinning, Noelle Hoover, Samantha Hostert, Jason Kishell, Mimi Logothetis, Lotus, Callie Luhrman, Mac McCusker, Jessica Ninci, Sean O’Connell, Angel Oloshove, Eric Pardue, Abbie Preston, Tiny Badger Ceramics, Tracye Wear, Dustin Yager, and many more. There’s no reason an everyday item like a coffee mug can’t also be a work of art!
After you’ve picked up the mug of your dreams, be sure to check out some of the HCCC’s other exhibits currently on display including After Memphis: Crafted Postmodern which traces the legacy of radical design and postmodernism in contemporary crafts.
