Discovery Green Announces New 'Unplugged' Concert Series This Fall

Houston regularly receives international recognition for the many green spaces and parks our city hosts. Houston is one of the most populous cities in the U.S., but our city planners have ensured that there are plenty of open areas for Houstonians to enjoy the outdoors even in the middle of all of our dense urban development. This fall, one of Houston’s outdoor green spaces is getting even better by hosting acoustic concerts which will bring the best musical acts our city has to offer into an intimate park setting. Discovery Green has announced the schedule for their new “Unplugged at Discovery Green” series, and this is one set of concerts you don’t want to miss.

Discovery Green is a 12-acre park operated jointly between the City of Houston and the nonprofit Discovery Green Conservancy. The park opened in 2008 and has since welcomed almost 14 million visitors. Aside from providing an oasis of natural areas and gardens in the middle of Houston, Discovery Green is also renown for hosting over 700 art, music, education, and health-focused events for the whole family each year – all of which are free.

This fall, Discovery Green will host its Unplugged concert series on Sunday evenings, 5:00-9:00 p.m. On Sunday, September 16, the series will welcome Nick Gaitan, Jealous Creatures, Christian Kidd of The Hates, SG & The Soul and Pecos Hank. On Sunday, October 21, Ancient Cat Society, Howard & the Nosebleeds, Kay Weathers, John Eagan and Kimi Kent will perform. On Sunday, November 25, Soul Creatures, Metanoia, Now We Fly, Sara Van Buskirk and Los Dietes will close out the Unplugged Series. Every act will perform entirely acoustic, creating an intimate and once-of-a-kind concert atmosphere.

All concerts are free, and The Grove will be on hand to offer beer, food, and wine. Blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics are welcome. Donations are encouraged to help support the artists.
