Michelangelo’s paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City are widely regarded as one of the world’s finest masterpieces and contain some of the most iconic images in all of Western civilization such as the fresco The Creation of Adam. Because it is one of the most famous and influential works of art in the world, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel attracts millions of visitors a year.
Due to that influx of visitors, going to the Sistine Chapel in person means waiting in incredibly long lines, fighting through oppressive crowds, and having a short time limit in which to actually view the ceiling – not to mention paying for plane tickets to Italy. Lucky for Houston, one of the world’s most faithful full-size replicas of the frescoes are coming to The Corinthian. Even better? You can get 40% off tickets if you act now.
The Sistine Chapel exhibit at The Corinthian consists of 34 full-scale incredibly detailed photographic replicas of each of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel frescoes, including the 40-foot-tall painting The Last Judgment from behind the chapel’s altar.
The exhibit has been traveling all over the world in the last year and will conclude in Hangzhou, China after it leaves Houston. By bringing the frescoes into smaller, more intimate galleries, the exhibit allows viewers to enjoy these masterpieces in peace without the crushing crowds of the Sistine Chapel.
