All aboard for Depot Day 2018! As part of National Model Railroad Month, the historic 1907 Railroad Depot in Tomball is hosting an all-day celebration of all things trains and railroads. On Saturday, November 10, the Tomball Railroad Depot transforms into a train-filled wonderland sure to delight train enthusiasts of all ages. Best of all? Depot Day is completely free.

Depot Day at the Tomball Railroad Depot celebrates the rich railroad history that helped create Tomball and in many ways shaped the early history of the Lone Star State. Texas’ railway history began in 1850 with the creation of the Buffalo Bayou, Brazos & Colorado Railways. These railroads connected Texas to both coasts throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, bringing in people, jobs, and cattle, and were responsible in a large part for enabling the creation of the state we love today.

Depot Day at the Tomball Railroad Depot will feature detailed model railroad exhibits including the “O” scale Tomball & Walden Railway and the “Z” scale Golden-Blackhawk & Central City Railway. The Houston Area G Gaugers Club will be on hand to present their impressive 800-square-foot layout just outside the Depot building. Other exhibits and activities include antique tin litho-style wind-up toy trains from the mid-20th-century, live music, and more. For Texas and railroad history buffs, or day-trippers looking for a fun, close-to-home getaway, Depot Day will feature a huge selection of historical railroad artifacts including railroad memorabilia, art, a vintage caboose and tools, and much more.

Depot Day at the Tomball Railroad Depot starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 5:00 p.m. Admission and parking is completely free. Get there early, because there will be free giveaways while supplies last.

The historic 1907 Depot is just 28 miles northwest of downtown Houston at 201 South Main Street, Tomball, Texas 77375.
