Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22nd and if you are wondering what can you do on Earth Day, there are some great activities lined up in Houston. One fine way to mark the day is to attend events that celebrate the beauty of our planet and understand the ecosystems that have made it their home.
Luckily there are a number of museums and other cultural spaces in Houston that will be hosting talks and conducting fun, insightful sessions. There are activities for kids, for adults and families. How to celebrate Earth Day in and around Houston For 2021
Houston Arboretum and Nature Center: Earth Day Celebration
What: An all-ages event that celebrates our planet with a plethora of activities like informative booths, nature hikes, fun displays and lots more.

Discovery Green: Green Mountain Energy’s Earth Day
What: A beautiful display of environment-themed murals created by artists of Houston will be debuting at this event along with panel discussions and short films that examine climate change and energy. Also up for grabs is the fresh produce on sale at the Urban Harvest Farmer’s Market.

Downtown Aquarium: Party for the Planet
What: Loads of activities like scavenger hunts, conservation tours, encounters with endangered animals, feeding in house fish and discussing the concerns facing our planet with the staff and biologists at the aquarium.

Houston Museum of Natural Science: Earth Day
What: Special tours, exhibits and seminars created with the aim of raising awareness about the issues affecting our environment and some of the steps that can be taken to protect planet Earth.

How much: $25 for adults and $16 for kids
Evelyn’s Park Conservancy: Earth Day Seedlings Giveaway
What: A distribution of 500 tree seedlings on the occasion of Earth Day which include varieties like Pecan, White Oak, Red Bud, Magnolias and many more. Take a tree home and contribute towards making our plant a greener place.
When: Thursday, 22 April 2021, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Smither’s Park: Earth Day Evening Picnic
What: Take a stroll in a park entirely made from recycled material through a chic urban artistic landscape accompanied by guest photographer Chena. Picnic pillows and blankets will be provided but this is a BYO picnic, so remember to stock up on food and drink, and keeping to the theme, don your best bohemian attire.

Memorial Park Conservancy: Storytime in the Park
What: Children, with parents in tow can attend two storytelling sessions at the newly opened Event Lawn in the Clay Family Eastern Glades. You can also stay back for a face painting session afterwards.

The Woodlands Children’s Museum: Science Madness
What: With the help of water beads experience how different elements come together, mixed-up in so many ways to coexist with one another and make up our planet earth. Parents and kids are all welcome at this fun gathering.

Kemah Boardwalk: Party for the Planet
What: At Aquarium Kemah, join the staff divers and biologists in scavenger hunts and aquarium tours whilst feeding sting rays and getting to know more about the aquatic life that our planet is home to.

CityPlace Plaza: Earth Day Scavenger Hunt
What: Pick up your detective gear and go off on a hunt for exciting prizes through CityPlace, Springwoods Village, and The Market at Springwoods Village.

There are a number of other activities that you can participate in on Earth Day.
