It’s time to get your beads and feathers ready for some Mardi Gras fun! La Porte is celebrating in a big way with its 4th annual Mardi Gras On Main celebration Saturday, February 17, 4 pm – 9 pm.
Best of all, it’s a family-friendly event that’s free to attend with free activities for kids including face painting, inflatable slides, craft area, balloon artists and more.
The event offers plenty of fun for adults, too, including live music (Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble and Mambo Jazz Kings), Craft Beer Garden and food trucks (extra fee), Mardi Gras Market, street entertainers, and Mardi Gras Games for teams (fee). Early bird tickets are available to the Craft Beer Garden through January 31. Follow updates on its Facebook page.
For the first time, Mardi Gras On Main is hosting a March to Mardi Gras | Umbrella Parade beginning at 5 pm. This New Orleans tradition will feature the biggest Second Line La Porte has ever seen! The Second Line is a celebration of life with roots back to New Orlean’s famous jazz funerals. Everyone is welcome to participate with their own decorated umbrella. A registration form is available online.
Mardi Gras On Main is located in La Porte at Five Points Park, 201 S. Broadway.
