Purgatory Scream Park is Google’s top rated Houston area Haunt for good reason. Formerly known as The Kingwood Asylum, they are frequently acclaimed for their movie quality sets and social media famous characters. The Scream Park houses several attractions beyond the original asylum, and with nearly 27,000 sq ft of horror all wrapped up in one ticket it is a challenge for even the stoutest of heart. New attractions such as ‘Dead Woods’ shanty town, suspected home of the Cajun roux-ga-roux legend, and the ‘School of the Dead,’ where little monsters learn their wicked ways, are but a taste of what awaits at the scream park this Fall.
When: Open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in October, plus Halloween and the first week in November.

Phobia Haunted House

With their all-new location, this oldie but goodie has new attractions and special effects each year. Voted a fan-favorite Houston haunted house, you’re sure to get creeped out. There are multiple attractions to choose from- The Darke Institute, Clown Mania, Exile, Savage Ground, and more. Tickets are $15 each or you can buy combo tickets and save some serious cash. Phobia is open now and every weekend in October, plus the first weekend in November and the week of Halloween.

The Haunted Trails

When night falls, you face your fears at this haunted house in Houston. You get two attractions for one low price at this outdoor fear space. Be sure to stay on the path! Tickets are $28 and you can skip the line with a speed pass for an additional $10! They’re open weekends in October, plus the first weekend in November.

13TH FLOOR HAUNTED HOUSE 

Billed as one of the scariest haunted houses in Houston, 13th Floor offers over 25,000 sq. ft. of scares. There are numerous attractions, including a haunted house and axe throwing. You’ll need to get your tickets in advance.

Pearland Trick or Treat Trail

Come with your kids to the Pearland Rec Center & Natatorium which will be hosting a free trick-or-treating event on Halloween in the evening. There will be tons of booths and great activities for the children. All are welcome at this trick-or-treat event where there’s an actual Trail Station that passes out goodies during the event.

If you’re looking for kid-friendly things to do this week, swing by the Children’s Museum Houston. The museum is getting into the holiday spirit with Grosstopia, an event that will include creepy experiments, monstrous face-painting, costumes, and daily hunts for candy and goo.

Boo on the Boardwalk

For the month of October, there are few places that get into the spirit as much as the Houston Zoo. Every day of the week, kids are encouraged to wear their costumes, explore the carved pumpkins, ride the Scary-Go-Round, stop for photo ops and, of course, see and learn about the animals. This year, the zoo has added a lantern tunnel into the mix. Note: Adults can also wear costumes as long as they’re appropriate. All tickets for the zoo are now sold online, and prices depend on which day you pick and how busy it’s likely to be.
