Several Houston organizations are offering free immunizations to children, just in time for school.

1. Harris County Hospital District is offering free shots for kids age 2 months to 18, thanks to its Troubleshooters Mobile Unit. Parents need to bring their child’s shot record. Hours are 9 am – 1 pm unless listed otherwise. Here is the upcoming schedule:

2. Blue Cross Blue Shield Care Van offers free immunizations and health screenings to children age birth to 18 years at neighborhood schools and churches. Here is the upcoming schedule:

  • August 15: St. Thomas Presbyterian Church, 14100 Memorial, 4 pm – 6:30 pm
  • August 16: Salvation Army, 7920 Cook Rd., 4 pm – 6:30 pm
  • August 18: Klein Intermediate, 4710 W. Mt. Houston Rd., 2 pm – 6 pm
  • August 19: Spring Branch Family Center, 8575 Pitner, 8 am – noon

3. Spring Branch Community Health Center is hosting free Back to School Vaccine Drives offering free vaccines to children ages 4-18 with Medicaid, CHIP or no insurance.

  • August 14: Patient Appreciation Day, 19333 Clay Rd, Katy, 7:30 am – 11 am
  • August 15: Patient Appreciation Day, 1615 Hilendahl, 7:30 am – 11 am
  • August 19: SBFDC Vaccine Drive, 8575 Pitner, 8 am – noon

4. Children’s Museum of Houston will once again offer free back-to-school immunizations for children under 18 years this summer. Each Thursday through August 31 families can get kids immunized for free during the museum’s Free Family Night. The first 150 people will be eligible for the free shots from 5 pm – 7 pm. No registration required. Parents must bring their child’s shot records to qualify for free immunizations.

5. Houston Fire Department is hosting an Immunization Extravaganza Thursday, August 24, 4 pm – 6:30 pm. Kids age 4-18 can get free immunizations before school starts if they are uninsured or with Medicaid. This is located at the HFD Val Jahnke Training Facility, 8030 Braniff. Parents must accompany the children and bring their shot records.
