Relax with Tai ChiJoin Jade Mountain Martial Arts for Tai Chi each Saturday outdoors at Central Green Park in Katy. This Chinese martial art centers the mind, body and spirit. Located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.

Browse cool cars — Car lovers will enjoy Saturday’s Memorial City Coffee and Cars from 8 am – 10 am. Come check out a variety of cars from early 1900s machines to the latest super cars like the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder while enjoying coffee and breakfast for purchase. Located in the southside parking lot of Memorial City Mall by the food court entrance.

WWII hangarSee WWII military aircraft — Don’t miss your chance to tour the WWII Museum and visit the Hangar of the Houston Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. It’s a great chance to get up close to the Wing’s five flyable WWII military aircraft: climb into a cockpit of a WWII trainer or go inside a WWII Paratroop aircraft. This is a free event the 1st and 3rd Saturday at the West Houston Airport from 10 am – 3 pm. Located 2 miles north of I-10 east off Barker Cypress on Groschke Rd.

Mingle at free museums with BofA — Bank of America provides free admission the first weekend of each month for “Museums on Us” program. The Houston locations include Children’s Museum of Houston and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. This is for Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders only, not their children. This is valid this weekend Saturday and Sunday. Times vary by location.

Nurture a childWriters in the Schools and HPL Express share a free Young Writers Workshop each Saturday, 10:30 am, at Discovery Green. This is geared to students in 2nd – 8th grades. No registration necessary. Limited to first 25 kids. Located at 1500 McKinney.

Support local artists — The First Saturday Arts Market returns Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm. This monthly outdoor market in the Heights features original art, music, and fun. Located at 540 W. 19th.

Craft family fun — Create magnificent masks at the next Hands-On Houston event, Saturday, 11 am – 3 pm at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. The activity will take around 25 minutes. Kids will use paint, cardboard and tons of creativity for this free event. This always-free arts organization offers exhibits and education resources at 4848 Main Street.

Celebrate artArt in the Park presents a tribute to Prince by Skinny Kravitz from 2 pm – 4 pm. Located at WFDD’s Central Green Park in Katy, 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.

Be creative — Kids will love making an art and crafts project at Abrakoodle Saturday, 3 pm – 5 pm. This is located at The Square at Memorial City between Maggiano’s and The Cheesecake Factory.

Jam to the beat — Levy Park is hosting free music events Saturday to keep your toes tapping! Blue’s Society Bands features Mark May (12:30 pm – 3 pm) and Raa Raa Blues and Zydeco (3 pm – 5:30 pm). Then stick around for a Direct Energy concert with Brant Croucher & Friends from 6 pm – 8 pm. Located at 3801 Eastside.

SUNDAY

Ride the bayous — Join other local Houstonians at Bayou Bikers, a Sunday morning ride (25-40 miles) exploring the bayous of Houston. Mountain bikes or fat tires are needed for this terrain. The ride begins at 8 am and meets at 301 Milam.
