Enjoy a movie outdoors — 1) Central Green Park: Head to WFDD’s Central Green Park in Katy for a movie night with the family watching Moana. Movie begins at dusk. Located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. 2) The Square at Memorial City: Enjoy a free outdoor screening of The Secret Life of Pets on the jumbo screen at The Square at Memorial City, between Maggiano’s and Cheesecake Factory.
Relax with Tai Chi — Join Jade Mountain Martial Arts for Tai Chi each Saturday outdoors at Central Green Park in Katy. This Chinese martial art centers the mind, body and spirit. Located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.
Explore books with young readers — Don’t miss Bookworm Festival, a free book event to encourage young readers, Saturday, 10 am – 12:30 pm. Enjoy author appearances and more. Some of this year’s authors include Matt de la Pena, Loren Long, Todd Parr, Ethan Long, Tammi Sauer, and more. Located at Spring Oaks Middle School, 2150 Shadowdale Dr.
Craft with color — Houston Center for Contemporary Craft hosts its free Hands On Houston family craft day Saturday. This month participants will explore color, form, and texture by creating abstract monoprints. This is a great opportunity to experiment with color theory and shapes to create a beautiful composition. Families can drop in any time between 11 am – 3 pm. Located at 4848 Main Street.
Monkey around with circus arts — Tight-rope walk and tumble at The Square every Saturday with Cirque La Vie from 11 am – 1 pm. Kids can learn ground acrobatics, hand stands, wire walking and more. This activity is best for kids 5-10 years old. Parents must sign waivers before participating. Located in The Square at Memorial City.
Browse historic planes — Tour the WWII Museum and visit the Hangar of the Houston Wing of the Commemorative Air Force 10 am – 3 pm. It’s a great chance to get up close to the Wing’s five flyable WWII military aircraft: climb into a cockpit of a WWII trainer or go inside a WWII Paratroop aircraft. Located at West Houston Airport, 2 miles north of I-10 east off Barker Cypress on Groschke Rd.
Support local artists — Cancelled… Rain date is February 17, 11 am – 6 pm. The First Saturday Arts Market returns February 3, 11 am – 6 pm. This monthly outdoor market in the Heights features original art, music, and fun. Located at 540 W. 19th St.
Explore local theater — Bring the family to a special performance of Peter & Wendy – the original Peter Pan Story by J.M. Barrie! Performers from Open Dance Project will be dressed as Peter Pan, Tinkerbell and Hook and will read and perform parts from their production of this beloved classic which runs at the MATCH February 23-24. This event is from 2 pm – 3 pm. Located at Brazos Bookstore, 2421 Bissonnet St.

Be a part of African American History Month — The Houston Public Library is home to various events that will Celebrate African American History. This Saturday view a film documentary called King: A Filmed Record…Montgomery to Memphis at 1 pm at Collier Regional Library 6200 Pinemont. You can also visit the African American Library at the Gregory School to catch a sneak peek of main stage productions. This Saturday at 3:30 pm view Fetch Clay, Make Man, which explores the friendship of historical icons Muhammad Ali & Stepin’ Fetchit. Located at 1300 Victor Street.

The Square at Memorial City and the KRBE Street Team will host the annual Countdown to Kickoff Big Game Watch Party at The Square starting at 3 pm Super Sunday. They will even show the game on The Square’s 24 ft. x 14 ft. Big Screen HDTV with surround sound. Located at The Square at Memorial City.
