Explore the German culture — Celebrate Christmas fun in Texas German style all weekend! Tomball German Christmas Market and Festival is a three-day weekend event with live music on four stages, strolling Christmas carolers, kids’ activity area, free hayrides, Christmas lights tour, petting zoo, 175 street vendors, and more. Free admission and free parking. Located at 201 S. Elm in Tomball.

Watch a movie under the moon — Catch a free screening of Santa Clause 2 at The Square at Memorial City. Movie on the jumbo screen begins at 7 pm. Located at 303 Memorial City Way.

Get festive in Old Town — Don’t miss Home for the Holidays in Old Town Spring, the 37th annual event through December 23! The hometown holiday festival features a spectacular display of twinkling holiday lights, entertainment, family-friendly activities and photos with Santa every weekend! Event located at 403 Main Street in Spring.

SATURDAY

Relax with Tai Chi — Join Jade Mountain Martial Arts for Tai Chi each Saturday, 8:30 am, outdoors at Central Green Park in Katy. This Chinese martial art centers the mind, body and spirit. Come back at 5 pm to hear St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church Confirmation Carolers perform traditional Christmas Carols.

Cheer for the gingerbreadCelebrate holiday creativity at the AIA’s 9th annual Gingerbread Build Off , from 10 am – 4:30 pm. This annual event at City Hall features more than 30 teams competing for the Grand Prix de Show award. The day features gingerbread construction, kids’ zone, live entertainment and more. Winners and select competitors will be featured in an exhibition December 11-15 at Architecture Center Houston.

Play in the snow — Santa and snow will take over Balmoral at the Winter Wonderland at Balmoral for a “brrrr-illiant” mix of wintery fun 10 am to noon Saturday, December 9. It features 30,000 pounds of snow, live ice sculpting, free Santa photos and holiday activities like S’Mores bar, cookie decorating and more. This is located at 11930 Talman Run Drive off Sam Houston Parkway and Woodland Hills Dr.

Enjoy a Christmas show — Enjoy Christmas on the Farm – Kids Crazy Christmas Show at Second Baptist Church in Cypress for an unforgetable show. Be entertained with dancing, Christmas music and puppets who creatively tell the “Christmas Story.” Shows at 10 am and 11 am on December 9. Located at 29900 Hwy 290.

Get festive — Enjoy the lights of Jingle & Mingle at The Square at Memorial City. Live music, a spectacular snowfall and appearances by the Memorial City Reindeer. This takes place each Saturday until Christmas from 6 – 9 pm at the Square by Memorial City Mall, 303 Memorial City Way.

Celebrate small-town Christmas — Christmas on Commerce returns to Tomball Saturday, noon – 4 pm. Enjoy Christmas crafts, live entertainment, activities, and a chance to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. Located on Commerce St. in downtown Tomball.

Free holiday movies – 1) Central Green Park: Grab your blankets and bring the family for a free outdoor holiday movies: A Christmas Carol  begins at dusk.  2) Sugar Land Town SquareElf will start at 7 pm in Sugar Land.

Play in the snow — It’s a big day in Friendswood at Home for the Holidays! The free event (3 pm – 8 pm) features 40,000 lbs. of snow on snowhills, photos with Santa, concert in the park, parade, tree lighting, and more. There is a fee for the amusement rides but the event is free. Located at Stevenson Park, 1100 S. Friendswood.

Enjoy a parade on water — The City of League City 56th Annual Christmas Boat Lane Parade on the Clear Lake channel is viewed by more than 100,000 people a year. The parade features more than 100 brightly decorated power and sailboats. The parade begins at 6 pm at South Shore Harbour Marina and the Nassau Bay Lagoon to Galveston Bay.

Chill in the winter wonderland — Make holiday crafts, get a free photo with Santa, and enjoy all the free games and activities at Bass Pro Shops’ Santa’s Wonderland. The fun continues seven days a week through Christmas with games such as laser arcade, remote control trucks and activity tables. Craft making is 5 pm – 7 pm weekdays and noon to 5 pm weekends. Two locations at 5000 Katy Mills Circle and 1000 Basspro Drive in Pearland.

Light up the night — Celebrate in the streets at Lights in the Heights in the Woodland Heights neighborhood. Streets are blocked off to best view the lighted homes and musical performances right from the porch! Hours are 6 pm – 9 pm.

Get in the holiday spirit — There is lots of free fun planned at Jingle on the Boardwalk Saturdays and Sundays on the Kemah Boardwalk. Saturday (2 pm – 9 pm) features Snow Patch, Santa’s Workshop, Holiday Showcase, Santa pics, and free outdoor movie, Frozen Sing-A-Long, beginning at 7 pm.

SUNDAY

Explore the German culture — Last day for the Tomball German Christmas Market and Festival Sunday with live music, vendors, street performers, ethnic food, arts and crafts, free hayride, and more. Located in Old Town Tomball. Free parking and shuttle. Hours are 10 am – 6 pm Sunday. Located at 201 S. Elm in Tomball.

Listen to classical Christmas music — Visit First Presbyterian Church downtown for their 37th annual Messiah Sing-a-Long at 7:30 pm. Located at 5300 Main Street.

Get in the holiday spirit — There is lots of free fun planned at Jingle on the Boardwalk on the Kemah Boardwalk weekends in December. Sunday is more Santa’s Workshop and Holiday Showcase.
