Listen to female mariachi — Celebrate Mexican Independence Day at Miller Outdoor Theatre Friday, 7:30 pm. The evening kicks off with a Grito ceremony followed by an exciting performance by Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles. Located at 6000 Hermann Park Dr.
Get informed — Folks who need assistance can head to Disaster Recovery Information Fair Saturday, 8 am – 4 pm, at Track 21, 4815 Hwy. 6. The day features free food, bilingual assistance in filling out forms, live music and legal advice by Houston Volunteer Lawyers. Various non-profit organizations, such as United Way and Houston Food Bank, will provide information on types of assistance available to those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Relax with Tai Chi — Engage in Tai Chi Saturday mornings in Katy at 8:30 pm. This slow and gentle exercise — perfect for all levels — is a Chinese exercise system that uses slow body movements to achieve a state of relaxation. Located at Central Green Park, 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.
View WWII aircraft — The 3rd Saturday of the month means free WWII museum and hangar tour. Tour the WWII Museum and visit the Hangar of the Houston Wing of the Commemorative Air Force 10 am – 3 pm. It’s a great chance to get up close to the Wing’s five flyable WWII military aircraft: climb into a cockpit of a WWII trainer or go inside a WWII Paratroop aircraft. Experience wellness for kids — The Children’s Wellness Project, from 11 am – 3 pm, features seven interactive stations that represent the seven Dimensions of Wellness, live entertainment, a Sample Market and much more! The Bash will be geared toward children ages 5 and up. Located at Sugar Land Town Square.
Get outside for fun — It’s World Wide Day of Play Saturday in Deer Park, noon to 3 pm. The free family event features inflatables, games, face painting, music, pool games, and more! Free hot dogs and bottled water for the first 100 people! The fun starts at noon. Located at Deer Park Community Center and Dow Park, 610 E. Augustine.
Participate in STEM — Girlstart leads hands-on STEM Saturdays for kids each Saturday through November 4. Space is limited to 40 kids on a first come first serve basis. Parent must accompany child. Located at Discovery Green.

Watch salsa dancing — Experience Texas’ biggest live Salsa and Dance show Saturday at Miller Outdoor Theatre. Salsa y Salud features choreography and a cast of 40 make this evening memorable! Located at 6000 Hermann Park Dr.
Explore nature — Free Sunday in Nature returns this week to Armand Bayou Nature Center. Admission is free from noon to 4 pm, thanks to Dow Chemical Co. Hike trails with a naturalist interpreter, view live reptiles, relive 1895 history, and more. Located at 8500 Bay Area Blvd.
Share family fun with music & chalk — Enjoy fall Concert in the Park series in The Woodlands each weekend through October, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Sunday features Good Time Muffin.
