FRIDAY

Watch a movie under the moon — Don’t miss Family Friday Movie Night at The Square at Memorial City, 7 pm – 9 pm. This week’s movie is Cinderella. Blankets and chairs are welcome. Located at The Square between Maggiano’s and Cheesecake Factory.

Listen to Harmony of Trees — Two performers with Houston Grand Opera share a special performance Friday, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, called Harmony of Trees in conjunction with Discovery Green’s special exhibit Hello, Trees. Located at 1500 McKinney.

SATURDAY

Touch a truck — Kids love the Touch a Truck events to get up close to all kinds of big trucks. This event returns to The Woodlands Saturday morning at Rob Fleming Park. A sensory-friendly option begins at 9 am and the regular Touch a Truck is 10 am to noon. Don’t miss the kid’s construction zone. Located at 6535 Creekside Forest Drive in The Woodlands.

See WWII planes — Tour the WWII Museum and visit the Hangar of the Houston Wing of the Commemorative Air Force 10 am – 3 pm. It’s a great chance to get up close to the Wing’s five flyable WWII military aircraft: climb into a cockpit of a WWII trainer or go inside a WWII Paratroop aircraft. Located at West Houston Airport, 2 miles north of I-10 east off Barker Cypress on Groschke Rd.

Kick off “Year of the Dog” — The Chinese Community Center will be celebrating the Year of the Dog February 17, 10 am – 4 pm,, at its free Lunar New Year event. As one of the largest cultural festivals in Houston, it features Asian food, arts, crafts, cultural activities and more. Performances include lion and dragon dances, drum dances and Chinese folk dancing. Located at 9800 Town Park.

Learn creative writing — Writers in the Schools presents a free weekly Young Writers Workshop each Saturday, 10:30 am at Discovery Green. Kids can develop their language skills and express their thoughts. Located at 1500 McKinney.

Celebrate Lunar New Year — Don’t miss Asia Society Texas’ next family day Saturday celebrating Lunar New Year from noon – 4 pm. The afternoon highlights the Year of the Dog with performances, art and craft activities, and food inspired by Lunar New Year traditions across Asia. Located at 1370 Southmore Blvd.

Plan a free date night — Grab your special someone and head to Romance of the French Quarter Saturday, 3 pm – 6 pm, in Katy. The afternoon features live music including Platinum Players Zydeco Band and jazz by Preston Smith. The first 25 people get free dessert from Peli Peli. Or just plan to buy the special picnic menu from Peli Peli and bring your blanket. Located at WFDD’s Central Green Park, 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. {Weather call will be made at 9 am.}

Browse for summer funCamp Fair returns Saturday in Sugar Land at First Colony Mall (10 am – 4 pm). The event features 40+ organizations representing overnight, day camps, sports camps and more for Houston-area kids. It also offers prizes, music, and stage performances.

SUNDAY

Explore at family day — Enjoy free Bayou Bend Family Day Sunday, 1 pm – 5 pm. The afternoon focuses on how early Americans used math daily such as through navigating and making maps. It also includes demonstrations, performances, craft workshops and more. Tours are available of the first floor of Bayou Bend’s historic mansion. Free admission for all. Located at 6003 Memorial.

Listen to Beethoven — Da Camera of Houston presents a free concert Sunday, 6 pm, Beethoven for All: Kinetic. This is part of the Beethoven for All series celebrating Da Camera’s 30th anniversary this year. Members of KINETIC: The Conductorless Ensemble perform Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 10 in E-flat Major. Located at Archway Gallery, 2305 Dunlavy St.
