Learn improvTake a free Improv class, thanks to Station Theater’s Intro to Improv every Friday, 7:30 pm – 8 pm. All Intro students are then invited to stay to watch the 8:30 pm Supernova Armando show for free ($6 value), a fast-paced comedy show with a guest monologist. Register your free spot online. Listen to live musicEnjoy live music at WFDD’s Central Green Park in Katy. Sharkbait is a local band who will perform beginning at 7 pm. Located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. 

SATURDAY

Get kids writing — Families can take advantage of a free Young Writers Workshop each Saturday, 10:30 am, at Discovery Green. This special opportunity is a joint partnership between Writers in the Schools, Discovery Green, and HPL Express. Twenty-five spots are available, first come first serve. Located at 1500 McKinney.

Skate on the iceIce Skate USA is offering a free 30-minute introductory skating lesson and another 30 minutes of games, free skate and more. The lesson begins at 11:15 am. Located at Memorial City Mall. 

Focus on teens — This Youth Leadership Series at Central Green Park in Katy is offered to teens on Saturdays. This month’s session is Cyber Bullying and Self-Defense Demos. Located at WFDD’s Central Green Park, 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.

Create family memories at the frontier — It’s Family Fun Day at Frontier Fiesta, University of Houston’s annual student-led spring festival since 1940. Enjoy lots of family fun Saturday, March 25, noon – 5 pm including a rock wall, student-run carnival booths, rides, petting zoo, talent show, variety show and more. Frontier Fiesta runs March 24-26 with free live concerts, multicultural performances, and variety shows.

Have fun with STEM — Girlstart Inc. leads a fun hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education program for kids each Saturday at 12:30 pm. Space is limited to 60 kids on a first-come, first-serve basis. This is located at Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney.

Engage with art cars — Head to Market Square Park for the Art Car Preview Party and movie! Enjoy previewing art cars and engaging in conversation with folks involved with the Orange Show. The fun begins at 4:30 pm, the Q&A panel at 6:30 pm. Don’t miss the free outdoor screening of Art Car: The Movie at 7:30 pm. Located at 301 Milam.

Enjoy a family movie nightBring your blankets, chairs, and empty stomachs to Flick-nic on the Lawn! Fort Bend Community Church is hosting a food truck and movie night event Saturday, March 25. The free outdoor movie will feature Kung Fu Panda 3 on a huge 33-ft screen. Don’t miss inflatable moonwalks! Food trucks will be onsite for food purchase. Located at 7707 Hwy 6, Missouri City.

Watch a movie under the starsCatch a free outdoor screening of Inside Out at WFDD’s Central Green Park, Katy. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to watch this free flick beginning at dusk. Located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.

SUNDAY

Go fly a kiteThe free Hermann Park Kite Festival includes kite flying, arts and crafts and more Sunday from 10 am – 5 pm. It’s located at the Murray Hill and Jones Reflection Pool at Hermann Park.

Play in the streetsCigna Sunday Streets kicks off at Garden Oaks/Oak Forest, Sunday, March 26, noon to 4 pm. Traffic will be re-routed to make way for fun and healthy activities in the street. Cigna Sunday Streets promotes outdoor activities and health with a friendly dose of community — it’s part bike tour and part walking tour. It’s located on West 43rd St. between Rosslyn Rd. and Ella Blvd.
