Houston might be growing too quickly like any other major metropolitan area, but with population growth comes a host of cultural and entertainment activities that small cities just can’t provide. Houston is home to a thriving arts and entertainment scene and luckily often welcomes some of the biggest touring productions in the county. Case in point: the smash hit musical The Book of Mormon is coming to Houston in 2019, and this is one production you don’t want to miss.

The Book of Mormon debuted in 2011 and was written by South Park visionaries Trey Parker and Matt Stone in collaboration with Robert Lopez, one half of the songwriting team responsible for Frozen and Coco. The Book of Mormon is a tale of two young Mormon missionaries who head to Uganda to spread the good word of Mormon prophet Joseph Smith, only to find that the work is much harder than they anticipated to say the least.

The musical blew critics away when it debuted and won big at the 2011 Tony Awards, winning Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting Design, Best Sound Design, Best Scene Design, and Best Orchestrations in addition to a host of other awards and nominations. Again – this is one musical you don’t want to miss.
