Calling all tiny goblins and ghouls! Halloween isn’t until the end of the month, but the Children’s Museum of Houston wants you to have some spooky fun all through October.
This year’s Halloween Grosstopia celebrates everything ooey, gooey and slimy — the perfect family-friendly, and slime-filled event that’s sure to keep your candy-seeking kids happy all month long. The event runs through Oct. 31st and offers a variety of special events that your kiddos will love. Each weekday, from 4-6 p.m., Thursdays from 4-8 p.m. and all day on weekends and Halloween day, the museum hosts a special trick-or-treat quest throughout the entire museum, which has been decked out with mischievous and creepy Halloween figures. So, make sure your kids are in their favorite costumes for the event.
Yes, your kids will have a ton of fun. And they’re also going to learn a thing or two. So, a win-win for mom and dad.
And it’s free (or included) with $12 general admission!
On Oct. 12, kids can learn all about creepy crawly creatures. From slugs, green bugs cockroaches and more. Beginning at 11 a.m., there will be a crocodile encounter, showing off a number of reptiles, including a crocodile. That’s followed by an owl pellet dissection activity where your kids learn all about what owls eat and then learn about regurgitation. Throughout the afternoon, there will be creepy-crawly storytime.
On Oct. 19, take part in Zombies, Ghosts and Ghouls — a host of weird workshops that your kids will love. This includes making your own ghastly Halloween costume and then doing a Zombie fashion show down the runway. There will be zombie face painting, a magic show and a “Thriller” and “Monster Mash” dance workshop.
The 3rd annual Slime-Off takes place on Oct. 26. IT starts with a “Mad Science Show,” and is followed by the slime-making workshop. At 2:30 p.m. that day, a number of brave souls will compete in the series of sticky challenges. Who will get slimed with 15 gallons of ooey-gooey concoction this year?
Halloween doesn’t just have to be one night out of the year. Come on down to the Children’s Museum of Houston as much as you want for the rest of the month and have some slimy fun! Click here for all the info on Halloween Grosstopia!
