Have you seen J.J. Watt star in the recent H-E-B commercial about ordering your groceries online for pick up? Yep, it certainly caught my eye!
Loyal fans of H-E-B will be thrilled to know H-E-B Curbside, its online ordering and pick up, is now available at more than 20 Houston area stores. It originally started only at the Bunker Hill location in late 2015. Even better, the $4.95 pick fee is waived for your first four orders. So it’s free just to try it out!
How does it work?
H-E-B Curbside is a fit for so many different folks, whether it’s the busy professional who doesn’t want to spend time shopping, the elderly who don’t want to navigate the stores, or moms who don’t want to corral their kids in the store while they shop for groceries.
My daughter is coming home from college this weekend, so I was happy to pull together a grocery list including some of her favorite meals. The dorm food is getting monotonous for her already! Plus she loves cooking.
As I started selecting my products online for curbside pick up, I discovered the different sorting options available online. Do you only want to see sale items, gluten-free products, local products, organic products or previous orders? There are a variety of ways to filter how to view products online.
I shopped the sale items first and then by department. Typing a product name quickly in the search bar is always an easy option as well.
It was Saturday night, and I selected my pick-up time for Sunday afternoon. Just complete your order by 9 pm and you can choose next day pick up as early as 7:30 am. Same-day is also available if your order is complete by 9 am with a pick up at 4 pm or after. Pick-up hours range from 7:30 am – 9 pm to accommodate most schedules.
Communication was quick and thorough for my order. I received emails and text messages about my order. Then an hour before pick-up, another text confirmed my order would be ready on time.
I was thoroughly impressed with the pick-up process. I followed the signs to the designated Curbside parking and texted the number that I had arrived. The total time from arrival to departure was five minutes. Wow! My Curbside employee was efficient and arrived and loaded my groceries all within that time. He also went over my order to explain only one product was not available — the Brach’s candy pumpkins. It’s OK, I didn’t really need them!
H-E-B Curbside saves me time, which is always a good thing. I selected my grocery order while I was watching the Houston Astros on TV and only spent five minutes at the store for my grocery pick up. My order was accurate with produce selected according to my specific online notes. It’s a great time to give it a try, especially since your service fee will automatically be deducted from your order for the first four visits.
