Houston Fire Museum

In many ways, firefighters are the real-life equivalent of superheroes. In order to preserve the heritage and history of the heroic firefighting services in the Greater Houston area, the Houston Fire Museum was founded in 1980. Through preserving the rich history of Houston’s fire services, the museum hopes to encourage civic engagement by sharing the stories of the heroes and events that have shaped Houston’s communities.

The Houston Fire Museum is housed in Fire Station Number 7 dating back to 1899. The museum features a wide range of educational resources and activities, public outreach programs and events, and many rotating exhibits that explore the rich history of Houston’s firefighting service. The museum is a non-profit organization and is funded in part by a grant from the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
