With school districts closing across the United States, many Houston area school districts also just announced they are also offering free take-home meals. This is amid the growing concern for the risk of spread of COVID-19.
Here’s your full guide to all the districts offering free meals for students during these trying times:
HISD and the Houston Food Bank will offer curbside pickup service at 36 food distribution sites districtwide beginning March 16 to help promote personal health and social distancing. If you don’t have a vehicle and need to walk to the site, you can still stand in line, just make sure you’re six feet apart from one another. See the map and full schedule of distribution here.
Alvin ISD will be offering to-go meals for all students 18 and under from 12-1 pm daily March 16-20 at Passmore Elementary, Rodeo Palms Jr. High, and Manvel Jr. High locations. Please remain in your vehicle during the pickup process.
Free drive-thru meals will be available March 16 from 9-11 am at Cleveland Middle School campus.
The CyFair district will be serving breakfast (7:30-9:30 am), lunch (11 am-1 pm), and dinner (4-6 pm) daily starting March 16th for all kids 18 and under no matter where the student is enrolled for school. Pickup sites include:

- Cy Creek High School
- Cy Lakes High School
- Cy Park High School
- Cy Ridge High School
- Cy Springs High School
- Danish Elementary School
- Francone Elementary School
- Frazier Elementary School

- Thornton Middle School
- Goodson Middle School (starting March 17)
The Dickinson school district’s Food & Nutrition Services Department stated it will provide meals for students through March 16 – 20. All parents and students can collect packed breakfast items and lunches at Dickinson High School from 11 am to noon.
A drive-thru will be set up in the parking area on Owens Drive. Also, Resource officers will be providing traffic directions during pick up time to ensure a smooth process.
East Chambers ISD
Breakfast can be picked up from 7:15-10 am and lunch from 10 am-1 pm at no cost. Their release stated, “You may drive through the connecting road between Buccaneer and School Road where the Dome Cafeteria is located between 7:15 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, and we will provide curbside service supplying you with a breakfast and a lunch for each of your children from 1-18 years old. For those who cannot come during this time, we will serve lunch only between 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. using the same procedures.”
Fort Bend ISD
Free grab-and-go meals will be available to anyone 18 and younger and to students with disabilities of all ages. Make sure your kid is in the car with you at pickup. Breakfast will be available from 7:30-9 am and lunch from 11:30 am-1 pm at the following locations:
- Dulles High School
- Elkins High School
- First Colony Middle School
- Hightower High School
- Hodges Bend Middle School
- Kempner High School
- McAuliffe Middle School
- Missouri City Middle School
- Ridge Point High School
- Sartartia Middle School
- Travis High School
Free breakfast and lunch will be available to kids 18 and younger starting March 16th in grab-and-go format from 9-11:30 am at the following locations:
- Bear Creek Elementary
- Bethke Elementary
- Golbow Elementary
- Hutsell Elementary
- Mayde Creek Elementary
- Memorial Parkway Elementary
- Sundown Elementary
- Tompkins High School
- West Memorial Elementary
- Williams Elementary
Klein ISD families can pick up their take-home meals via the curbside meal service offered by the district. Families of children in this district can stop by Klein Intermediate, Wunderlich Intermediate, Mittelstadt Elementary and Schultz Elementary. This is between the hours of 8 am and 11 am on Monday March 16 through March 17.
The district stated that anyone under the age of 18 residing in the household of their students will be provided free meals to cover the week.
La Porte ISD
Free breakfast (7-9 am) and lunch (11 am-12:30 pm) will be available to go the week of March 16th for kids 18 and younger at the James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus.
Liberty County ISD
Drive-thru meal pickup at Liberty Middle School will start March 16 from 10 am to 1 pm daily.
Free meals for students 18 and under will be available at Cedar Grove Elementary the week of March 16-20 with breakfast served from 7-8 am and lunch from 11 am-1 pm.
Santa Fe ISD
All Santa Fe ISD students who qualify for the federal meal program can pick up meals at Barnett Elementary from 10:30 am-12 pm March 16-20.
Families of the Spring ISD school district can pick up their take-home meals through the week of March 16 through March 20. Families can stop by the schools between the hours of 8 am and 11 am to pick up their meals for children.
Also, it’s unknown at this time which exact schools, but it was said that there will be more information moving forward in the coming days. To get more information you can check their social media sites or click here for their website.
The district will offer a free curbside meal service for all Tomball ISD students from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17 or Wednesday, March 18 at Tomball High School’s front entrance.
