The Houston Symphony will honor the Queen of Tejano Music and one of Texas’ most famous personalities this summer with a set of concerts sure to please the whole family. This July, the Houston Symphony presents The Music of Selena, a night of Selena’s iconic hits with accompaniment provided by the symphony orchestra. For any fan of Selena, the symphony, or live music in general, this is sure to be one of the biggest events of the summer.
The Music of Selena concerts are part of the Bank of America Summer Sounds Series and presented under the direction of guest conductor Andrés Franco. The concerts will feature some of Selena’s biggest songs like “Dreaming of You,” Como La Flor,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” and many more. Drinks and photo opportunities will be available in the lobby prior to the show, and audience members are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Selena-inspired outfits. Get creative!
In addition to the symphony orchestra, The Music of Selena will feature vocalist Isabel Marie Sánchez. Sánchez is a former contestant on Telemundo’s La Voz Kids (The Voice Kids) and has wowed crowds with her authentic recreation of Selena’s music, performing recently at the annual Fiesta de la Flor festival held in Corpus Christi each year in honor of Selena.
The Houston Symphony’s The Music of Selena will be performed live at Jones Hall on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, July 13, 2019 at both 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Houston Symphony Patron Services Center in Jones Hall Monday through Saturday from 12pm to 6pm.
