How to Train Your Dragon

The Houston Symphony is bringing to life the award-winning music from one of the most thrilling animated family adventures of our time. On Thursday, May 30, the Houston Symphony orchestra performs the music of How to Train Your Dragon live alongside the film. Even better? The performance will be outside at the beautiful Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, meaning lawn and mezzanine seats are free with no ticket required!

How to Train Your Dragon debuted in 2010 to rave reviews. The DreamWorks animated film tells the story of Hiccup, an awkward young Viking boy who is chastised for his physical weakness. Hiccup comes across a wounded young dragon with whom he sympathizes and rather than kill it as is his village’s way, he befriends it and eventually trains it. The two go on a remarkable journey. It’s a family-friendly adventure with plenty of excitement and adventure along the way.

How to Train Your Dragon received Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score in 2010 and has since spawned a franchise of sequels, short films, a television series, video games, and even a live arena show featuring animatronic dragons.

Now, the Houston Symphony will bring the film to life by performing John Powell’s Oscar-nominated score live along with the film under the stars right here in Houston. Bring the whole family out for a special night of entertainment everyone will enjoy.

Reserved seats to the show start at $20, but lawn and mezzanine seating remains free with no ticket required. Yes, you can have a whole night of fun with the family for free! For ticket information, visit the event’s official website.

How to Train Your Dragon In Concert will be performed at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on Thursday, May 30. Gates open at 6:30 pm and the show starts at 8:00 pm.
