What is your Christmas tradition? For many families throughout Houston, Journey to Bethlehem has become a family favorite. This outdoor walk-through drama portrays the birth of Christ through a series of live action scenes. It is sponsored by Current–A Christian Church in Katy.
For four nights, December 8-11, folks can experience the village of Nazareth like the night Jesus was born. The event has grown over the past 14 years and features 200 costumed performers and many live animals. I experienced this event last year with my family, and it’s amazing. More than 7,000 people walked through Journey to Bethlehem in 2014. Extreme weather forced the church to cancel two performance nights last year, but it still served 2,500 folks.
The event is free for Premier Night December 8. The other nights, December 9-11, admission is $6 and kids under 5 are free. Express passes are available for $12 to help reduce a bit of the wait time.
Everyone needs a ticket — even a free one for Premier Night. Go online to get your $6 ticket in advance. Unfortunately, all free online tickets for Premier Night are gone but additional free tickets are available the night of the event. Free parking is available right at the church.
Hours are 7 pm – 9 pm Thursday and Friday, 5 pm – 9 pm Saturday, and 5 pm – 8 pm Sunday. Current–A Christian Church is located at 26600 Westheimer Parkway.
