One of the nation’s most popular department store chains has unveiled a new rewards program which will help shoppers save even more. Macy’s announced its new “Star Rewards” program this month, giving frequent Macy shoppers another reason to stay loyal to the historic retail chain.

Unlike other stores’ rewards programs, the Star Rewards program does not require shoppers to apply for or use a store credit card. The program rewards frequent Macy’s shoppers with new benefits including special Star Money Days, exclusive perks and offers, and even birthday surprises. Star Money Days are days when Star Rewards members can spend the exclusive Star Money they earn with every purchase.

There are several tiers of the Star Rewards program: Bronze, which requires no Macy’s credit card; and Silver, Gold, and Platinum, all of which require Macy’s credit cards but offer more exclusive rewards. If you’re a frequent Macy’s shopper, you might want to consider these upper tiers. Silver requires just $499 a year on a Macy’s credit card, while Platinum requires members to spend at least $1299 annually on their Macy’s credit card.

In a press release, Macy’s chief marketing officer Rich Lennox says this new program is intended to reward all shoppers, not just those with Macy’s credit cards:

Macy’s is thrilled to be launching our next phase of Star Rewards, which allows all customers to participate in our loyalty program. Since the relaunch of Star Rewards last fall, our customers have responded with tremendous enthusiasm for enhanced benefits and rewards they received as part of the program. With the addition of the Bronze level, we’ve made earning rewards simple for everyone, no matter how you pay.
