Memorial Day weekend typically signals the beginning of summer. It’s also a time to honor military personnel who have sacrificed everything to protect our country. One of the ways many businesses try to show their appreciation is by offering special Memorial Day deals and freebies, especially for those in the armed forces.

Here are a few ways to save this Memorial Day:

 

Food & Restaurant Deals

A’Bouzy – Pick up the picnic basket special for $69. This gets you two roast beef sandwiches, mayo, horseradish, pasta salad, truffle chips, some homemade cookies, and a bottle of champagne. You can also dine in from 10 am to 3 pm for brunch or get dinner until 8 pm.

Baskin-Robbins – Through May 31 you can get free delivery through the Door Dash app when you spend $15 and use code “BASKIN” when you check out!

Burger King – From May 22-25 get a free order of fries when ordering through Postmates. You need to spend at least $15 and type in the promo code “FRYDAY” at checkout. Some Burger King locations will also offer active duty military and veterans with ID 10% off.

Chili’s – Get a half order of baby back ribs in the 3 for $10 menu. This gets you a drink, an appetizer, and a half rack of ribs for just $10!

Fogo de Chao – On May 25, active duty military and veterans will get 20% off all to-go orders.

Golden Corral – You’ll get 10% off your bill with a military ID.

Guard and Grace – Pick up the Family Style Grill Kit complete with your choice of steak or snapper, Caesar salad, black truffle mac n’ cheese, and chocolate chip cookie for $70 per person. Wine will be 50% off if two kits are purchased. Steak kits need to be picked up on Saturday.

Hooters – Military personnel will get 20% off take-out orders.

Hungry Howie’s – Through May 25, participating locations are offering 51% off any regular priced pizza with code “51OFF

Local Foods – Choose from five cocktail kits that include six drinks for $27. You can choose from Blackberry Julep, Gin 7 Tonic, Mojito, Spicy Rita, or Thai Basil Vodka Coolers. The takeout menu will also be available, and you can order online.

Loch Bar – Through Monday get a picnic basket to go for $285. This basket includes a bottle of Austin Hopes Cabernet, two servings of Caesar or Cobb salad, grand charcuterie and cheese or crab dip, lobster rolls or crab cakes, and a whole friend chicken and or Smith Island Cake.

Molina’s Cantina – Get house margaritas, frozen or on the rocks for $6.50 each.

Mutiny Wine Room – Through Sunday you can pick up three wine flights for $15-$18. You’ll get two-ounce pours from three different labels. Sunday brunch service is also available.

Outback Steakhouse – Show your military ID and get 10% off your order.

Ouzo Bay – Get a picnic basket to go through Monday for $325. This basket includes Greek sparkling wine and foods for four including pita, signature dips, crab cakes, salad, short ribs, and Baklava.

The Patio at The Pit Room – They reopened on Friday and will have crawfish available all weekend. You can get crawfish each day this weekend from 1 pm until they sell out. As always barbecue will also be available. Bulk barbecue kits are also available to-go.

Phat Eatery – Through Monday get a free bottle of hot sauce with an order of Malaysian curry crawfish.

Quizno’s – Through May 25, current and former military members will get a free 8-inch sub with the purchase of another 8-inch sub and two bottled beverages.

River Oaks District Restaurant – Get signature frozen crush cocktails for $8 each. This price is good for dine-in and to-go orders.

Smashburger – From May 22-25 get $5 off the Take and Make Family Meal kits. Depending on the kit you’ll feed four for between $25-$48, but this weekend you’ll get $5 off!

Steak n’ Shake – Pick up a free order of fries with no additional purchases needed. Just go through the drive-thru and you’ll get some free fries.

Subway – Through May 25 buy a footlong sub and get one free when you use the Subway app or order via the website.

Traveler’s Table – Get a free order of Morning Churros with dine-in or take-out orders of $50 or more. Brunch cocktail kits are also available for takeout at $32. If you purchase two Asian entrees, you’ll score a free order of Chicken Karaage or Shiitake Edamame Dumplings.

Wendy’s – Through June 7, purchases made through the Wendy’s app will get you a free Spicy Chicken sandwich or a Breakfast Baconator, depending on what time you order.

Whataburger – From May 19-25 get a free burger when purchase a Whataburger online.

 

Hotels

Hotel Alessandra – The “Stay Texas” deal allows guests 25% off with starting rates of $165 per room, per night.

InterContinental Hotel – Medical Center – Two specials are being offered. The “Life of Leisure” package, which offers chocolate-covered strawberries and sparkling wine with check-in, late checkout, and other perks from $160.55. The “Suite Life” package comes with a $50 food/beverage credit every night you stay. The credit can be used at The Naturalist Café and Lounge or the Safina Mediterranean Restaurant. This package starts at just under $200 per night.

The Moran City Centre – The “Locals We Love” package gives guests 18% of regular prices and includes a full American breakfast each day for two.

The Whitehall: Houston – The “Stay & Play Local” package includes deluxe accommodations at 30% off the best rates. You’ll also receive overnight valet parking and access to the roof-top pool and cabanas on the second floor.

 

Retail

ACE Hardware – On May 23 stop into ACE to pick up a free American flag.

Land’ End – Pick up some new swimwear at 60% off

Lowe’s – Appliance deals are available at as much as 40% off regular prices.

Macy’s – Coats are available at 60% off. Deals are available, some with deep discounts throughout the store.

Mattress Firm – New mattresses are offered at up to 50% off.

Target – Deals are available for most types of furniture. They are also offering a BOGO deal on swimsuits.
