Montgomery County is taking applications from residents that need some financial relief due to COVID-19. Back in early June, county commissioners approved a plan to allot $65 million towards economic relief for residents.
According to officials, “These CARES Act funds are available to qualifying applicants of Montgomery County to help pay up to two months of rent, mortgage, utilities and/or prescriptions.”
All income levels are allowed to apply as long as you meet certain criteria.
Residents have until Sept. 15 to apply for financial assistance. Any assistance is capped at $2,500 per household.
Officials have stated that more than 9,000 residents have applied for assistance as of Wednesday morning.
Autumn Edge, the grant coordinator for Montgomery County said, “Montgomery County wanted to make sure we offered a program to all of its residents regardless of income level in order to offer assistance to those that often fall through the cracks of other traditional aid programs.”
You can apply on the Montgomery County website.
