A Father’s Day celebration complete with magic shows, an interactive reading of a book about magic and a crafts table that will help the kids make magic hats and nuts and bolts as a special gift to mark the day. With dads in tow, kids can spend an exciting time at the museum with magician Monty and showman Hughdini, this magical dad’s day.

Contemporary Arts Museum Houston: Postcard Collage | Open Studio

Reconnect with family and friends by distancing from the screen in an event created in conjunction with the Tune In, Tap Out exhibit at the museum. The session involves making a postcard-sized collage using simple arts and crafts material and sending it to your loved ones using the age-old snail mail. You can pick up your in-person kits down at the museum.

Moody Center for the Arts: Brie Ruais: Movement at the Edge of the Land

A new exhibit coming up in this space marks first institutional solo exhibition of the Brooklyn-based sculptor Brie Ruais, who creates a physical and sensorial experience with her sculptures to examine our relationship with land. The artist follows a movement-based practice of making art which is revealed in the scrapes, gouges, and gestures embedded in the ceramic works.

The Health Museum: Kids Ask Anything with Dr. Heather Kline

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston: Virtual Conversation | Artist Ernesto Neto

A conversation between Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto and museum curator Mari Carmen about the former’s exhibit SunForceOceanLife currently showing at this cultural space. The talk will explore the artist’s enduring fascination with creating immersive environments that have redefined the boundaries between the artist and viewer.

Lawndale Art and Performance Center: The Big Show

The Big Show is an yearly call to artists living within a 100-mile radius of Lawndale to submit their artworks. This year, the contest was judged by independent curator and art historian Cecilia Fajardo-Hill who selected 212 artworks by 182 artists from as many as 500 submissions. Now, the works will be on display at the museum for all to see.
