1877 Tall Ship ELISSA Sail Training

What: Participants in the sail training on the ELISSA have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sail on a historic sailing ship from 1877 and literally sail history! Participants in the ELISSA Sail Training program have the chance to discover time-honored methods and skills for upkeep of a square-rigged sailing ship. In order to set and furl sails and maintain the complex equipment made of wood, wire, and rope, volunteers can learn how to climb ELISSA’s rigging. The main mast of the ship stands 99 feet above deck, therefore these activities call for skill and guts.
